In August, my girlfriend had an emergency and these people (the nurses) DO NOT LOOK at epic to see peoples allergies and issues with IVs. My girlfriend has several comorbidities, which inhibits normal I-V entry, and the nurses seriously put a Fibromyalgia patience with internal scarring through poking and prodding to find a vein to administer and I-V. This is atrocious, and I am apt to look into getting this hospital ED investigated for mispractice as well.
Now, this is not a separate incident, in September they did the same thing. All the nurses, did not listen to my girlfriend regarding allergies to Adhesives and did not look at the EPIC chart to keep from her having an allergic reaction while administering an I-V. She needs an ultra sound to have an I-V administered due to all the scar tissue. This is just for this month.
Fast Forward to yesterday, I called the ER about 9pm. She arrives at the hospital even though she has a history of seizures in her medical record, the EMS services did not put that in the report and we had to let the nurses know she was a Seizure risk. She has a history of 10 years documented in her medical records! This is mistreatment of a patient that has more than 1 comorbidity. This ED acts as if they have never dealt with patients with allergies which is ridiculous. Even cooks at restaurants, pay attention to allergies. These people documentation and can't pay attention to EPIC documentation! 10 years of Seizure history and they forgot to put that in her report. I am apt to file for some sort of investigation into this hospital for this.
The Charge nurse on duty was considerate and her name was Sherryl on duty on 10/20 10pm-12am we were there. She apologized that the current nurse, after her arrival, told my girlfriend they could not allocate the resources for a ultasound for her veins. She is medically required to have this procedure before receiving an I-V. She has massive scare tissue in her arms from multiple times receiving I-Vs. The nurse, that received her for the room told her "that they can't allocate the resources to perform the ultrasound". Then told her "she is ok with her job", what kind of response is this? That nurse then had the gall to tell her that "well, if you don't want to be stuck you'll have to wait for another (however long)". Even though, she is there because I had called an EMS for her Seizure episode.
So, after we talked to the charge nurse. The charge nurse apologized for the issues we experienced. I was irritated at this point and conveying calmly that this is unprofessional and clearly against medical procedure and considered malpractice.
Now, as if we are going to be done here but nope! They did it again! The next nurses and before they even were trying to administer an I-V were told she needed a ultrasound to detect which veins they could use, of which, none of the 3 looked t he EPIC chart to see she had allergies to all adhesives other than coband. Mind you, this is now the 8th nurse out of all 3 visits that did not look at EPIC to take a look at what allergies she had and we told them before they tried to poke and prod her. Fibro patients are very sensitive to pain simulation and my girlfriend has as well. Ontop of the bad scarring she has in her arm, the I-V administration process can be very painful.
This is atrocious and absolutely horrifying that this hospital is actually performing Emergency Medical Care without even checking for peoples allergies to medication! They had administered to her as a medication oxicodone for her eyes, which she has no actual eyes because of glacoma, nerve pain assistance. This is actually marked that she has a reaction to this medication as well in her records. This hospital needs to be looked at for mispractice and bad handling of medical information as well. None of the nurses in this medical facility and even the EMS which we dealt with 4 times! Are able to look at a medical chart with allergies provided to administer treatment in the way a patient needs to "Even After...
Read moreCame in with maybe an inch wide cut that needed stitches. Not once did they actually clean the wound, just pulled and tugged at it to make sure I didn’t cut a tendon. The RN or PA said they were about to go home so they wanted to assess severity to see if she had time to do it, or if I could wait for the next person on staff. Well I guess they didn’t communicate because the next PA came in and they bickered in front of my room about who was going to do what and the approaches for numbing the area. Finally ready for discharge and I had to ask them if anyone was going to come collect my insurance paperwork. Come to find out weeks later I got a bill from the hospital for a moderate severity ER visit, and then a week later one for a severe ER visit from the PA. Since when is 3 stitches for a cut that already stopped bleeding severe? I only needed stitches because it was over a knuckle that butterfly bandages couldn’t close. So now going through disputing the bills before me, who is insured, has to pay over $1100 out of pocket for 3 stitches and lidocaine which didn’t even work on half the cut. And for the nurse who whispered to me “what do stitches feel like?” The answer shouldn’t have been “painful” when I’m also paying for a numbing shot. Update: Reddit shows US Acute Care as a scam but this ER uses physicians under this company and they do not clearly disclose this and state that you will be billed twice for the visit.
Only giving an extra star because it was nice to go to a doctor and not get weighed and my height taken for no reason.
Also during registration we were pointed to a row of seats to wait, and they sat us next to someone who we later found out when she got called to the desk that she was there with her baby who had Covid. The person who sat us immediately disinfected herself and the registration seat, put on a mask and...
Read moreThis was by far the worst ER experience I’ve had. Was warned it was bad but got a wake up call to just how terrible. I was in the waiting room for 5 hours in excruciating pain as I sat there violently vomiting. I was wheeled in and out of triage 5 times because the nurses went out of order and were unorganized. Care was subpar. Nurse laughed at me while trying to get my IV line in and gave me a hard time that I wasn’t able to keep my arm straight as I again was violently throwing up into my mask and bag they gave me. I asked several times for fluids as I was so dehydrated from not being able to keep down liquids. Asked how long it would before I’d get fluids and wasn’t even answered. I was not the only one there who had a poor experience as their staff released another patient without calling the healthcare proxy, an older gentlemen with dementia. After 5 hours in the waiting room, I was finally wheeled back to a room where I was given fluids, nausea and pain relief but then basically left on my own til they were coming to discharge me. I had no vitals done the entire time I was in my room until they were trying to get me out when they found out I had spiked a fever and my heart rate was elevated. No one came to check to make sure my IV line was getting fluids, which it wasn’t for some time. No one checked my pain levels. I decided to go home instead of waiting to get another bag of fluids because the care was so poor. I am also a breastfeeding mother and my infant was barred from the waiting room to nurse. I was basically soaking wet in the waiting room from being so engorged. I will not be going back to this...
