This little place is a hidden gem in Manassas. It's such a small place, but it's located in a convenient spot right across the prince William hospital.
They offer Bahn Mi sandwiches with a variety of meats and fresh veggies. They also offer smoothies, teas, Vietnamese goodies, and fresh spring egg rolls.
It doesn't look like much from the outside, or inside for that matter, but like they say never judge a book by it's cover.
The sandwiches are amazing! I tried the beef lemon grass, and although it was very simple, meat and pickled veggies, it was absolutely delicious! Meat was tender and juicy, veggies were crisp and fresh, and lots of flavor. The best part is definitely the bread, I thought it was really good, and was thinking they must have a great supplier, but I learned they bake all their bread fresh on site!
For the drink I tried the honeydew tea with rainbow jelly. I wasn't sure what to expect, but even before tasting it the drink already looked pretty, and let me tell you it was not only pretty, but tasted delicious and refreshing, perfect for brunch after an early morning workout.
I can't wait to return again, and let everyone working there know how happy I am they are part of our community. If I could give them ten stars I...
Read moreBeen here several times before when it was Max’s Banh Mi… But I believe they sold to the new owners, who changed the restaurant, made it much bigger and change the name to Pho Duong Banh Mi & More, as well as changed the concept to make it more of a Pho joint. When I walked in, it resembled the typical Pho joint with number on the tables, as well as bottles of Sriracha, etc.
I was simply placing and order to go, so I just walked up to the cashier to pay for what I called in, which was smooth and efficient. I only waited a few mins, not long at all for my order to come up. I ordered 4 quarts of pho and 3 large settings of Pho Ga and the quarts were sealed nicely and wrapped in plastic to make the extra-secure!! Very nice touch!! The cold stuff was packed separately and the chicken and other items also packed independently from the broth.
Once it was time to dig in, we heat up the broth and then add everything to it and it was EXCELLENT! Everyone enjoyed their Pho for dinner!! Chicken was all white meat and fresh and the veggies were super fresh with the jalapeños having a nice kick to them. The broth had the beautifully subtle hint of spices, like star anise and it was excellent!
We definitely enjoyed this dinner and would...
Read moreHad to drop off a package tonight at the UPS store, and noticed that Max's was open. I have wanted to try their food for some time, so I decided to be a little adventurous and try their menu. All I have to say is wow!
The dining area is a little small, but that's okay since I was only looking to get something to go. I ordered the #1, a banh mi dac biet, which is a very traditional banh mi that originated in Saigon, and asked for double meat, for a total of. Some may not be familiar with the common elements (headcheese, pate, Vietnamese silky ham) of this sandwich, or may be put off by them, but I would ask that you consider trying this sandwich yourself. The different textures, the garlic and liver in the pate, and the pickled vegetables work well with the rest of the sandwich, served on a classic French baguette.
I also ordered a mango smoothie, which was delicious, and came sealed with a wide straw (finally, someone had figured it that not all liquids and straws are alike). The staff was extremely friendly. Definitely one to...
