We have been going to Renova Smiles since we moved into the area a few years ago. Back then it used to be fantastic outside of the Dentist that I swear is trying to set the land speed record for fastest root canal.. Now, the quality of the care has gone down incredibly.
We have had a myriad of problems over the past year as the quality of care has declined, from expensive procedures pushed on us, improperly fitting crowns and cavities being ignored. What was one of the final straws was when my daughter developed a major infection in a baby tooth days after Heart surgery.. naturally it happened on a weekend. I checked their website and low and behold it says they are open.. we can even make an appointment on the website. I do so and mark it as an emergency appointment. Get an email confirmation of the appointment and the dentist and drive all the way out there.. wanna guess what I found? A complete dark and empty office! It's 10 AM on a Saturday, their website claims they are open 8-1. We get an email of the canceled appointment 3 DAYS LATER! I had to franticly drive and call around to find someone who could see her.
The final straw came tonight, I have brought up an issue with a tooth over the past several visits. Telling them I can FEEL holes in that tooth, and see them. Every time brushed off and told there was nothing wrong and it was fine and normal. Tonight I cut my tongue on a jagged edge of this 'non existent' hole which is now holes and now there is a lovely crack!
we'll be switching to a new dentist as of tomorrow.
Posting an edit in since seeing the new dentist. I've dropped it to 1 star because this is unacceptable. New dentist upon a very basic first inspection (no X rays) found a old and large cavity. he said it was months old.. which I had been to Renova smiles with in that time frame and NEVER was there mention of a very large cavity. I swear it feels like they wait for these to turn into root canals before saying anything and then talk down to you about your poor teeth.
(Yes I was a patient here, no this is not my real name I'm not stupid enough to use my real name on...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo I was going to this dentist for about 2 yrs get work done on my teeth first off me myself wanted to have all my teeth pulled but they refuse to do that saying I was to young and they wanted to try and save my teeth so I've had a few root canals done and alot of filling well with that said before I went to them I already had a top and bottom partial SO I DID NOT NEED A NEW PARTIAL UNTIL them doing two front root canals and after a few weeks maybe a month it broke off I never ate anything hard or chewy or anything like that so it shouldn't have broken off so I call them and make and they so called fixed it well that didn't even last a day so I call them and go back again so they go on fixing my other teeth never mentioned anything about the broken root canal so I as what can they do about it he said he had to talk to Medicaid to see what he can do so I said ok btw Medicaid is my insurance company so with that said I have had a few appointments by the next time I ask them what they can do to fix it so I ask and he says Medicaid won't pay for another partial that they only do one in a lifetime he said he can help me he goes out of the room and sends someone else in there which he does alot he's hardly ever in the room and he never explains anything but anyway he sends someone else in the room to tell me that they can let me get a new partial for $1800 Im on Medicaid I don't have$18000 and why should I have to pay it I didn't do the root canal plus I forgot to tell you that I have another front root canal that really loose and I have only had that one for a yr and they are supposed to last for like 10yr so I would NOT HAVE HAD TO HAVE IF a partial WASN'T FOR THEM MESSING UP ON MY ROOT CANAL because mine you I already had a partial that that fits until the root canal he did broke off only after a few weeks or a month So Why should I have to pay anything the dentist messed up because he's always rushing and running from patient to patient to make money and I feel like for the Medicaid patients he doesn't really care he's just in it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have tried repeatedly to give this practice a chance since being sold from the private practice I was cared for at for over 20 years. I feel less like a patient and more like a dollar sign every time I visit RenovaSmiles. I put off seeing a dentist for months because I did not want to return to this practice, but pain from a filling forced me to come back. The hygienist Iāve seen is always friendly, but I feel is constantly trying to sell me on expensive unnecessary procedures. I received a cleaning, and had expressed concern about a filling I had done 6 months ago that I am experiencing pain from. The hygienist told me the filling is cracked and Iād have to get it fixed. No problem! The dentist then comes in and says no nothing is wrong with the filling and I need a night guard which will alleviate the pain I feel from the filling. Iām then told I have three additional cavities that need to be filled, after the hygienist has just told me everything looks great and theyāll see me in 6 months. The doctor examined me for maybe a total of 2 minutes before just walking away, no explanation of treatment, no patient care, and no answer as to why I am in pain. The hygienist came back in and said Iām good to go, and I questioned the 3 cavities mentioned. She said āno you donāt have any cavities I donāt know what the doctor is talking aboutā. The front desk then asks when Iād like to come back to have my cavities filled, to which I said Iām confused as Iāve now heard 3 different things about my treatment needs. I leave with pain in my mouth that is still not solved, an office that either doesnāt know what theyāre doing or canāt communicate, and an immeasurable amount of frustration. I will not be returning and would not recommend trying them if you expect basic communication and...
