THE DRESSES DO NOT MAKE UP FOR THE AWFUL SERVICE! AVOID MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE!
July 14, 2025
It's finally Monday, and I'm going to Ma-Jolieâs shop with my family this time.
When I arrived at the store for the third time around 2 p.m., the owner said, âOh Shit,â and told me my dress hadnât arrived. However, her business manager was there.
My father was upset and told the owner that this was the third time we came to the store and the dress was not ready. He found it hard to believe that she couldn't give us an exact date to pick up the dress.
Angry, he left the store, wrote a bad review on Facebook, and waited outside, clearly displeased.
To save her business, the store owner gave me a list of options for getting my dress. She suggested the easiest one: delivery to my front door. I explained that I couldn't do that because my husband would see the dress. Even if delivery was free, my parents wouldnât accept it being delivered to their home.
Upset, the store owner spent five minutes criticizing my father for being angry about the situation. That day, she had two employees with her, who backed her up and made me feel bad about myself.
I told her that my father's opinion was his own, and he had the right to express it as an American citizen from Puerto Rico.
I reminded her that I had come to the store twice before, but she said the first visit, when my husband paid the deposit, didn't count.
My parents encouraged me to return the dress, which seemed like a good idea until the store owner said she needed my husbandâs card to refund the full amount.
She didn't understand my situation. I had come to her store three times with different people because I donât have a driver's license. She also wouldnât sell me another dress in the store that was the same price.
I waited in Manchester for three hours. The last option she offered was to return at 6 p.m. After teasing me in another language, laughing at me, and making it clear that she wished me harm, I decided to go back.
When I returned at 6 p.m., the dress still wasnât there. She called her older son, who was helping her with the business, to bring the dress.
Her son came very late, with her husband and other family members, adding to my frustration with their looks.
By that point, I just wanted my dress, and I finally got it.
So, for future quinceañeras, prom queens, and ladies in waiting, think about buying your dress online if you can or look for it somewhere else. This small business, which is supposedly 7 years old, doesnât seem to value patient customers with light skin who can wait for two weeks and expect the store owner to keep her word.
The dress cost me $425.4 when the principal...

I was asked why I wanted to do the color I wanted to do and was told everyone is doing that and to do better.
It was very hard to shop when you have an employee judging your whole life (pausing, questioning, and making faces at my friend and I if what we said isn't what the employee would have choose or preferred). Things got uncomfortable after a while when trying to look around at dresses ourselves, we were asked if my friend and I had dates to prom, our ages (minors), where we went to school (after saying our school, we were told that makes sense?? Idk what that is supposed to mean)
Also during my experience my friend that bought a dress from Ma Joli days before was told to return it after showing it to the employee when the employee asked what she was doing for prom. (knowing they don't have a return policy) she said âyour really doing that for your senior promâ
The dresses tags are also cut off so you cant see the original brand that made the dress or where itâs coming from. When my friend brought her dress to be modified at a bridal shop, they let her know this is not legal! A few searches and you can find out thats true.
(NOTE: If you remove a label containing required information, the label you substitute also must contain that required information. Otherwise, youâve violated the Textile Act.)
My friend also bought a dress from here for $180, but when being rung up it was rung up as $200 because there was no tag on the dress & she had to correct them and bring up the same dress that did have a tag, be careful of little things like that and you could find a cute dress here! I was excited to shop here until my experience. (Windsor next store has same quality, đ€«đ€« and I was not harassed...
