I have been a Menards shopper for years in other states. I was so excited when they opened in St Louis. I've purchased many things in St Louis and have been pretty happy...until I started building an addition and special ordered product. The purchase experience was pretty smooth. We did tel them we wouldn't be able to pick up for a few months. They said that was fine as long as we told them. From there things slowly went down hill until it came to a big crash this weekend. It started with getting phone calls that we needed to pick up our stuff. That was resolved by a manager and happened because the associates did not put the notes in each order. (We had about 7 orders) Then I received a phone call asking if I had picked up certain pieces because it showed I did. Clearly poor inventory management. Then pickup day came...
They couldn't find the back of the shower for about 45 minutes. Apparently got put to stock on the floor. They somehow lost the drain kit for the tub The box for the tub was damaged. I took a look through the hole where the motor was...I couldn't see anything. I should have opened it all the way because that end of the tub was cracked when we opened it. Special order and will take an additional 2-3 weeks to get. Shower door MIA. Manager eventually blamed that on the vendor, but was supposedly in stock for over 2 1/2 weeks and no inventory reconciliation? Two straight trips that I left with the product that they could find, I was held up by security because the system said I already had the product...the product that had stickers all over it with my name on it.
While we were waiting for them to find missing products that they couldn't find, another customer was frustrated because they couldn't find his product. One employee told us that's why he doesn't work in the back anymore. Another said the last manager left for Lowes. The plumbing manager on duty told us our product got moved to the floor because he was not there the previous week.
They are all friendly and apologize nicely, but when you ask for compensation, no one can make a decision. Finally the Assistant store manager came back and seemed to take some control. We'll see what happens.
I will likely never buy anything here again. Based on other reviews, it seems many of my experiences have...
Read moreThere was dog poop all down one of the main aisles. Two other customers stepped in the dog feces and they almost fell. Thankfully, those customers stopped me from going down the aisle.
That same evening as I entered the Baldwin, MO, store I saw three different customers bringing their pet dog into the store. The service desk employee swooned over the animals. She made her "Oh!" and "Ah!" sounds as she stated to the owners how adorable that she thought their dog is. Then she went over to the dog and pet the animal. This is something that is absolutely not allowed for a real service animal! Frankly, the behavior of the Customer Service employee encourages people to bring their pet into store. There were no service animal vests on the dogs, and the customers did not show any papers or evidence that they were service animals either.
I notified a different employee about the dog poop that was in several different places down one of the main aisles. He ignored it and left the poop there. A half hour later, I talked to the manager on duty. He informed me that at a different Menards locally, they got into trouble with the corporate office for not allowing "service animals" into the store. THESE DOGS WERE PETS AND THAT WAS CONFIRMED BY THE OWNER!
I explained to the manager that are federal guidelines that stores must follow, and food is sold at Menards. The manager confirmed that they had not requested proof that the animals were service animals. I said, "I sometimes purchase food items from your store. If you are not going to enforce the FEDERAL Consumer Laws which supersede corporate policy, then I am not going to do business here!" The manager who was identified as JT responded, "GOOD!"
I left without making the several hundred dollar purchase for remodeling that I had planned to make. My money spends just as well at Lowes...
Read moreI have been many things in my life and one of them is a construction worker in a Concrete Finisher so I can appreciate the store like Menards especially when they have good products and good prices. I was especially impressed with their wood products they cut their own wood at their own Mill making it has less waste and look better if it's done for finish work. They have many Home Improvement items and ranging from inexpensive too expensive to include appliances carpeting Roofing siding bricks landscaping supplies and anything else you need to build a home as well as dissociated tools which I was impressed with the selection I never go away without what I want and the people there are willing to help as a matter of fact they make sure you are helps if you know how to ask for what you want and if you don't they will still try to figure out what you're trying to get even if you don't know that the doohickey you want is called a piece of rebar or drywall they are talk to deal with people who are not familiar with the vernacular and nomenclature of construction and other Associated trades. Sometimes they have an 11% rebate on most products you mail it in and you will get 11% of your purchase price back I have done this many times and spent the money there, again, andI got 11% of that back. Menards is a place I highly recommend because the customer service is very good. They are willing to help you get what you want ir need and this is not necessarily true about some of their competition. Menards is a more user-friendly Building Supply and Home Improvement...
