As a serious shopper and deal hunter, I was very excited when a new Target store opened up near me in Lancaster.
Sadly, the new store was well below my expectations, to the point that I will be avoiding this Target as much as I can. First of all, I do not like to judge a book by its cover, but the lack of diversity amongst the employees was shocking to me.
As I entered the store, I checked my target app shopping list, as I was in the market for a new PlayStation 4 controller. Eureka! The new Target had controllers in stock, on clearance, for $20! I quickly went to the electronics section, and attempted to find the controller.
No luck, so I asked an employee. She found the item number and alerted me that they had them in stock “in the back”. Instead of going to get one for me, she took me to another worker, who also looked it up on her device. However, she said “oh that price can’t be right” and took me to yet another worker.
This gentleman then proceeded to tell me that while the item was in stock in the store, and on the app to order at the store, I could not purchase the item in store. I asked why, and the gentleman told me “I’m the head of electronics and we do not have to sell these items on clearance prices. The price is too low.” I shook my head, and decided to go ask for a manager.
When I found another employee near customer service, I asked for a manager. Instead of providing me with one, the gentleman just asked blandly “what’s the problem?”. I showed him my phone which showed the price in store, and I told him what had just occurred.
I told him if the item is in stock, I wanted it for the price listed. I again asked for a manager. Rather rudely, he responded “We don’t need to honor our online clearance prices. If you want it for that price you can order it online to ship to the store.”
I then told him the item was available for online order with store pick-up, ready within two hours. He told me I would have to order the controller that way. I then proceeded out to my car, and placed the order.
The order would not go through. I tried again, the order would not go through. Attempted a third time, and was notified the item was “out of stock”.
Just to check, I walked back into the store, opened the app, and the item was “back in stock”. After this I thought, Target really does not want my business and does not respect me at all.
I say this in all seriousness - if you don’t mind an all white, stuck up, staff of kids who treat you like a bad person for wanting to save money, than this Target is for you!
Otherwise, I would avoid this target...
Read moreThe new Target had recently opened, but a few days prior. I wanted to look for a specific item in the office supply section and quickly made my way around the main inside perimeter, not only to track down the section, but peruse the newly opened store. The staff was pleasant, and appeared to be in a mass frenzy to stock the shelves, swarming around skids of merchandise. I must add that I was there and waited for the doors to open at 8am, and we had snow earlier that morning, which I am assuming caused the trucks to deliver late. There is a Starbucks right inside the door, a CVS pharmacy along with the more common of today's big stores, groceries, fresh meat, milk and produce just down from clothing and big screen TV's and entertainment. I was really impressed as I rounded past the groceries heading towards the registers, I felt I was in higher end store like Penny's or Boscov's. The way the accessories and cosmetics were displayed was not typical of a budget style store. I was pleased with the selection, price, ease and parking. Since this location is convenient and near my work, I will definitely be a somewhat frequent customer simply for those reasons, mind you that I am a Costco member, and rather hate to shop. I like the proximity of the Target in Lititz to Stauffers, Giant and other places I shop, I like the layout and feel of this...
Read moreI was here today (fruitville pike location) and when I got to the register the cashier (named Tom) was very slow. (Manager should make sure he's comfortable before going on the register.) I don't know if he is new, but clearly he hasn't received enough training because the person in front of me had gift cards and he didn't seem to know how to process them. Took way too long. Also, when he finally got to my order he ripped a bag of the chips because he pushed the conveyor belt button and they caught caught. (Everyone makes mistakes, and this is not the reason I am giving one star. It's what happened after.) So after I asked if someone could please grab me another bag. He said he would ask someone (but instead just looked around and didn't say anything.) I saw a girl standing next to us and I asked her. She said ok let me check. Another girl came up to me later and said they didn't have the staff to go get it and were 'too busy.' So I had to grab them myself. While I was heading back there there were 3 workers just standing there talking. When I got back I asked the cashier; Tom if he had scanned the chips that ripped. He said, "no they were on the belt when they broke. Remember?" I understand if someone is learning how to do thier job, but its not ok to be rude for no reason. The staff at this store is lazy and clearly do not care about...
