After having family and friends at the nursing home I soon found out that I made a horrible decision. The nurses their are rude, they do not answer any lights, they go around finding the aids to answer the lights and start fights with the aids in the hallways. The staff is always changing due to them being terminated or the staff is walking off the job. I will never put family or a friend in the nursing home at Shady Lane due to the experiences I have witnessed and have heard from other families.
The halls are always noisy and smell like the bathrooms, the rooms are never kept clean or the personal closets. Some of the staff is friendly while the others just turn their shoulder.
I hope someday they will make the needed changes, but do not see that happening...

I've inquired about this and they claim they cannot find enough staff to justify opening it and using it. I have a sneaking suspicion if they paid their employees more per hour, they could retain them for longer. While visiting my step-mom, several of the CNAs/RA's also told me they are not allowed to have drinking water/cups on the floor or even behind the nurses station to drink while they are working. They are very dehydrated especially when it's 80-90 degrees out and there is no air conditioning.    Read moreWe have been very pleased with the care that my grandparents have received at Shady Lane. They have kind, compassionate staff who are dedicated to the residents. They have also done a great job of keeping everyone safe during COVID-19 and found ways to keep families engaged with video calls, email notes to residents, etc. They went above and beyond to make sure my Grandparents could be part of the video call for my cousins wedding.
