Loved TJ MAXX in Willimantic (Mansfield) until a couple of years ago. Not sure if buyers or managers changed, but atmosphere, inventory and selection declined. Shopped there, again, 2 weeks ago and was able to find a nice selection of items, including a Calvin Klein handbag. After using handbag for a couple of days, it started falling apart inside the seams and pockets. I brought it back and was told by a very rude manager that she would do me a 'favor' this time, but they do not return defective items, if used, per policy??? I asked, including clothing? How could you have a policy like that, and how am i to know if something is defective until i use it? She repeated her mantra while pointing, forcefully, at the return policy sign. I finished checking out while this manager proceeded to re-price the handbag to put it back out!!! Neddless to say, I told the cashier, AFTER transaction was complete that i won't be coming back! I work too hard for my money!...
Read moreVery solid store. However, the men's section is about 10% of the store and the rest is for women. This is rather sexist and unpleasant. Makes it hard for a guy to find anything there. The last 5 times I've gone, I haven't bought anything because the men's section is so small and lacking... didn't find a single thing I liked. Not to mention, they don't even sell men's shoes. This super limited selection for men was almost worth giving 2 stars, instead of 3, but they do sell a wide range of other things, such as furniture, pet supplies, food, etc, which is awesome. The store isn't too bad, generally speaking. If you're buying women's things, shop here. If you are buying men's things, go to the Burlington coat factory, instead. Expand your men's section, if you want to make more money. You've lost hundreds already, with me alone, as I've had to...
