Staff is incredible. I really mean it. Either they hire the best or their training is top notch. Either way, their servers are S-tier. The food is great and reasonably priced, even for the area. Drawbacks for the food are that the menu is somewhat limited and, also, they don't have any guarantees for those with food allergies, which is kind of weird, for a restaurant. Everything they serve has the potential to be contaminated with either milk ingredients or soy ingredients, so if you have either of those allergies, you won't be able to eat anything here. It's a shame, too, because their food is very very good. Their sushi rolls are also very reasonably prices and high quality - the sweet potato roll is my favorite. Their spicy mayo is made in the restaurant, by their chef, and I can honestly say it's the best spicy mayo I've had from any place in Connecticut (and I've been to a lot of Japanese restaurants). The atmosphere is generally comfortable but it's always cold in there. They could do with some updating of their decorations but it's not a big deal, to be honest. Mainly the fact that's it's cold in there - that's the major con. Wear a sweater, if you need to, when you visit this place. It can be loud, at times, but usually isn't. And it's always pretty clean. They could do with dimming the lights a tiny bit more, though. Overall, positive experience. What the place lacks is made up for with top notch customer service. The staff are also very knowledgeable, as well as very respectful and helpful. Service can drop, slightly, even it's busy, but that's expected. I definitely recommend the place. Expect to spend about $30 each, for a full dinner or lunch experience, and expect to leave...
Read moreI came here for my daughters birthday had the worse service ever. Waiter sucked thank God I had Kleenex in my bag and used them for napkins because I never got any. Made reservations ahead when I got seated waited 20 minutes for the waiter to come out when he did he took the table that came in 5 minutes after us first. I asked to place an order as he was walking by and his response was I thought you were all set already, now mind you menus in front of us. Asian chicken had no honey glaze when I mentioned it to the waiter he said they must of ran out but didn't even try to resolve the problem they were dry and we love coming there for them. Curry chicken was so bland my daughter didn't eat it. We had asked if they would sing happy birthday to her when I called and made reservations they said yes. That was a lie I handed them candles expecting them to ask what she wanted for dessert they came back with a little cup of ice cream that she did not want and put it on the table and walked away. My plate was the chicken habachi it was ok not as good as it normally taste. This place is not the same. I will not be coming back. Asian bistro you need to reevaluate your staff. Your place sucks. Because Im a waitress even though I got bad service it's not in me to walk out without leaving a tip. Left him less then 15 percent my intention when I walked in to leave 20 percent or more because I always expect...
Read moreThis is a low-price establishment - don't expect great food and overall experience. They offer a "Hibatchi show", which is decent, the quality of the food is "ok" and the chef liked to say "more sake, more fun" over and over again, like he's trying to tell us to get drunk - or more likely, it's his way of having fun, as he was of Japanese heritage and Japanese men are known to like sake and like to get drunk.
The waiter and who might've been also the owner / person in charge (of Chinese heritage), seemed to think that he's a comedian and made all sorts of silly "jokes".
The soup, which is part of a Hibatchi order, was not well seasoned... it could be argued whether there was any salt in it at all, as it took quite a bit of salt of the provided salt shaker, to make it taste like anything at all.
About the same for the main food - it was ok, but again not that great of an experience.
The verdict: Don't go there if you want to have a memorable good experience (and for your guests, if you bring any); but if you just want to have an average / ok Hibatchi experience / show, then...
