PSA: Do not go to Katz tires in Marion.
Backstory: On my way to Tennessee on July 6th, I hit a pothole which resulted in 2 tire replacements and a bent rim. My rim was not severely bent at all and I have had no issues (other than some vibration) since.
My new in the box replacement rim arrived. I made an appointment for Friday evening to have my tire switched to the new rim. 4 tire shops in Marion said they could not replace my tire due to concerns with their machines grabbing the rim from the inside and not wanting to scratch my new rim. Katz was shop #5 who I explained everything to the manager and who assured me they would not have an issue because they have the machine that would not clamp from the inside. I had actually previously talked to the manager about 3 weeks ago when calling to find a replacement rim.)
Brought my car in Saturday. They swapped out my tire/rim. I could tell the person was new or inexperienced because the manager had to keep going out to help and explain what to do. I left and had an extreme shake on the way home. Called the shop, no answer, they were closed. Planned to call Monday. (Today) Yesterday, went out to my car and my tire was at 23 psi. Took it to Marysville who immediately found that the tire was cut and the seal was leaking. Also note there are no wheel weights on my new rim and the edge of my brand new rim is chopped up. Called and left 2 voicemails- one when I was flat and the other after the problem was identified
Called today and this “manager” has me on fire mad. “I can refund your $25 mount/ balance fee.” (Even though it wasn’t balanced or even mounted properly for that matter.) “We have signs we aren’t responsible.” “Your tire must have been bad.” “If you bought new tires, use your warranty from Pep Boys to replace it.” “The belt on the tire must have been bad and busted.” “I can’t do anything about it, I don’t own the shop.” “You can get in the website and email the owner.” “I can’t replace the tire.” “You didn’t buy the tire from us so I can’t replace it.” “A tire machine can’t hurt a tire.” “I’m sorry it scratched your rim.”
Yes, I did tell him I’m not someone inexperienced he can bulldoze, I actually did this for a living for 3 years. I know full well exactly how the inexperienced tech damaged my tire and rim.
I emailed the website address as the “manager” directed me to do. A week later and I have heard nothing.

Read moreI have been a customer of Katz Tires from their Downtown Columbus Location and have been going back time and time again because of the great price and awesome service! I've personally experienced and also have witnessed them helping out people in need and that's what a true neighborhood, caring business is all about in my opinion. I moved to Marion, OH April, 2018 and when it came time to get tires for the truck I was deciding if I should drive to Columbus and go to Katz as usual or shop local? My Fiance recommended a place but I for some reason suggested looking up other local establishments. To my most wonderful amazement there was a Katz Tires listed so I drove by and the signage was what I was accustomed to and it was the same family business! Right then and there a set of tires was bought for the old truck and I was taken care of as I was accustomed to. I live near a lot of construction and have had to have had a couple flats fixed since my purchase and like always when they say they stand behind their work and warranty they do without hesitation or question! I also have other services done as well, you can't go wrong with any service they perform, seriously! I've even been in to get a price for a service and have left with them refusing to let me pay saying that they didn't really do anything. Just let me say that If there is a problem with your vehicle and it's fixed when you leave, trust me, you've done something. You've not only fixed the problem but let the community know that there are still caring business out there but most of all piece of mind because their car is now fixed. I'm so glad you guys are here and happen to be down the street as well! I'll be in soon for that alignment on that brand new machine you got...
Read moreThe business practices by Katz are absolutely atrocious, and I find it mind-boggling that they have so many positive reviews. If you are shopping for new tires, they are certainly not a bad option, but anything beyond is a scam.
The business offers free plugs/repairs for the life of a tire then attempts to claim the tire is no longer within its life when you go to get it plugged. They feed lies to people they believe to be oblivious to convince you to purchase new tires or get unnecessary repairs for your vehicle. I have witnessed this on multiple occasions, and it is far more likely to happen if you are a woman.
They attempted to tell my wife that it was going to cost as much as a new tire to "repair a bald tire" that they claimed was the reason a tire was losing air (worth noting that all tires still have sufficient tread), when we already had the knowledge beforehand that it was simply a nail in the tire. My mother took her vehicle here as well and they left her lug nuts loose and claimed it was something else that was going to cost ~$1000 to fix. Thankfully, she took her car to the dealership to get it looked at and they let her know what the actual issue was.
If I could give this business less than 1 star, I certainly would. The fact that they haven't faced legal action for their clearly illegal activity is a surprise in itself, and it is safe to say I will never give this place my...
