This place is absolutely amazing! This regional high school serves the cities of Marlborough, Hudson, Northborough, Southborough, Westborough, Maynard and Berlin. This isn’t just some regional high school it’s a vocational or technical high school. They have 16 different vocational shops, like Painting and Architectural Design, Plumbing, HVAC, Computer Programming and Web Design, Health Tech, Culinary Arts and so much more shops, they also have several academic opportunities as well such as electives and study hall or academic & skill support, there are also LOTS of clubs and varsities/sports teams you can be apart of, and like they say they do more. Send your child here it’s a better chance of getting your kid into tertiary education/college, if not they do lots of other things that can make their students successful other than college. The school is big but not too big, there are two wheelchair accessible ramps or colonnades/bridges that connect the two main buildings, there are two cafeterias a bigger one and a smaller one (senior cafeteria) a medium sized gymnasium with locker rooms and the building is three stories. There is also an auditorium and a smaller auditorium/lecture hall too. The only thing that the school lacks is classroom space since lots of the teachers share the same room. When you first get in the school as a freshman, they obviously do orientation, then the students do a mini-exploratory of all 16 shops, then students pick 6 of the 16 shops to spend week long exploratories. That lasts until of December until they get the selected for one of the 6 shops they picked for exploratory. And remember you can’t ever change your shop it’s permanent for the all the four school years you’re there. The staff are excellent and professional, everyone is assigned a counselor by your last names first letter, which is good. Administration is also very professional and helps keep the school in a good environment. Well done managing. The schools front entrance is well secured, with receptionists and the police officers room right in front of the door. They use smart techniques to keep trespassers out. This is isn’t the Eiffel Tower people. The junior students that help you with exploratories are nice. So overall this school is secure, lots of opportunities, professional staff, and friendly to all people. Great job Assabet! You make me like...
Read morePLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE DENTAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM AT ASSABET . I’m writing this review in hopes that i can save someone from making the same mistake I made in taking this course at assabet . The whole program was prepared and executed horribly. It’s a 3 month course in which we did via zoom , the teacher spent 2.5 hours READING US A BOOK , I could have read myself . We had only 5 IN PERSON LABS which one of those labs we filled out a packet we never used , the other 4 labs was a demonstration of a procedure in which she shows you once and you move on to the next . How is that preparing you to get in the field ? What type of practice am I getting ? How is 5 LABS ENOUGH ? Although I didn’t feel confident although I don’t feel prepared or knowledgeable in the field i continued since I paid for it right … at the end of the course they send you to externship at a dentist office working with a program called Readytowork . I was really looking forward to the externship since there was lack of practice through these 5 hands on labs. This program takes FOREVER to get back to you , forever to set you up in the field , it’s a PROCESS to not only get in contact with them but to get cleared to work . Theirs doctors clearance theirs vaccines that need cleared ti work , a physical , two intake forms and who knows what else because I’ve yet to be cleared for an externship. Mind you the course was done in JUNE , it’s now AUGUST. When the course was done , the instructor let us know that assabet would be reaching out with a certificate of completion and a link to the exam so we could become DA. Never heard from them , never received certificate or link . I’ve reached out to assabet and let them know the situation, and they responded with sending my certificate TWO MONTHS LATER with “ completion of DA program and externship “ …. What externship ? How are you sending a certificate of completion of an externship that I haven’t even done yet. The whole situation is a mess and all of us who went through this program left with no exam , no externship no certificate , no dental assistant and we lost out on our money. NOT ONE PERSON LEFT THIS PROGRAM WITH WHAT ASSABET...
Read moreI took the course, . The teachers themselves were the only good thing about this program. The organization is terrible. They lost my OSHA card, so now I have to pay out of my pocket to get it re issued. Very difficult managing the course scope and barely got any hands on from a supposedly hands on course. Half thru they also told us we have to pay out of pocket for the hands on section of the course, yet we never or hardly got any time doing hands on work in the lab. Chose a different technical school if you want 100% follow thru. They just care about posting numbers for government funding...
