Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Marlborough

We purchased a $235 gazebo early this month. Thursday we assembled it and although several small items were missing and two rails seemed warped, it looked beautiful when when we finally put it all together. We added some candles and enjoyed it all day! The very next day we hung out again, even sent video to our quarantined loved ones. It rained that evening and the winds toppled it over. Hubbie called the number online and spoke to a representative who explained that since it was assembled we would only be able to exchange the item or pay the difference for an upgrade. The next morning we packed up the item and returned it to the store. The woman refused to exchange it! Citing not knowing who we spoke with and wear and tear as the reason. When we spoke with customer service they state returns/ exchanges are at the store manager's discretion. So after 1 day of use and overnight rain, the unit had rusted and it's our fault and our loss? We've decided to return any and all unused items we've ever purchased here. Including the unit we purchased to replace it. Cleary the gazebo was defective and the store associate made a choice not to honor their policy. She kept mentioning her own personal prior experience with a toppling unit and the fact that another customer recently had the same issue. Honestly it just made it worse. My suggestion, purchase somewhere that values its customers. Don't spend your time...

I am a frequent shopper at the Marlborough and Westborough OSJLs. Year after year I continue to be grateful for the wonderful customer service, they have never disappointed. If I am there in person or on the phone with any of the employees they are always helpful. Michelle in Westborough is a great listener and she goes above and beyond. Sharon and Barbara in the Marlborough store also go above and beyond. After an inquiry about a product in clothing I left a message and was told Sharon would get back to me, she did in the same day and so pleasant. When at the Marlborough store Barbara was available and helped me locate the item I was looking for. The item was not yet on the floor so she went to the storage area and got me the item I was looking for. Honestly customer service doesn't get any better than this. Thank you Ocean...

I enjoy shopping at Ocean State Job Lot, they offer a lot of gluten free products that I can't find elsewhere, I also shop housewares, pets, and some clothing. I was recently there, and left behind a wallet with everything I had just taken out of the bank, this was the week of Thanksgiving and I had withdrawn more than usual. Long story short, I left my wallet, with no ID, behind. I thought it was lost forever. I got a call from an employee that my wallet was found. She had looked at the footage from their camera, saw me leave the wallet, and then somehow found out I was an insider, so was able to call me. I tried to give her $60 because I was so grateful, she refused to take a dime. I will also add, the employees there are all so helpful. Never had any issues, but this was really going above and beyond...
