The actual salon seemed nice, but I would not recommend Shelly to anyone. My hair was no where close to what I asked for, and I was visibly unhappy with it. I paid almost $300, and yes I tipped 20% because; well, I’m a people pleaser. But to be honest, it was a terrible experience. Instead of accepting that it turned out completely wrong, she tried to convince me it was what I asked for. She never once offered to have me come back in and allow her to correct her mistakes. In the beginning of my appointment, I advised her that I have highly porous hair which takes to color extremely quickly. After she put the color on my hair, she disappears into the back, and I don’t see her once for the full 20 minutes that my color is developing. I watch in the mirror as my hair turns a HORRIBLY DARK shade, nothing like what I asked for or showed inspiration photos of! When she FINALLY came back; the damage was done. Hair dressers know when it’s a brand new client and they have high porous hair, it’s important to check color a couple times as it develops… I went home and cried, and regretted treating myself to something that was supposed to be a relaxing experience. There is a different review on google about Shelly, and I have to say I had a VERY similar experience. With me, she also seemed very forgetful and scattered… I wish I had listened to that review and chose a different stylist. Her prices are also higher, due to her being a “master” stylist. Again, the salon itself seemed very nice and clean with cheerful stylists. But please do not go to Shelly, you will regret it. I won’t get into details too much due to privacy reasons but I will say start to finish, the entire...
Read moreI had my second appointment with Shelly yesterday. I had debated canceling that appointment because of how uncomfortable I felt after the first appointment. Everyone has an off day and that was all I thought of it, untill I left yesterday. I sat in the chair, she asked if we were doing a balayage, which I then explained we were working on making my hair more blonde, I showed her images of blonde with some roots showing. She then showed me a picture of a balayage, I explained that is not what I wanted. She told me to pull up the pictures I showed. Her tone felt as if she was challenging me, like she had to prove she was right. After that, I thought we had come to an agreeance on all over blonde with blended roots. She started the process by bleaching sections of my roots. Towards the back of my head, there was a small knot that she attempted to comb at a few times, then took her scissors and cut it out with 3 or 4 inches of length. She did not tell me she was going to do that, she just proceeded to do so. She continued bleaching my hair. I chose to decline the haircut. She blow dried my hair and then I payed. There were a few services I was not asked if I had wanted but was applied to my total. I was expecting to be charged for the bleaching. My first appointment i was not charged for the added styling/ protective products they put in my hair, so i didn't expect those charges. Overall my hair does not look bad, it's just not what I had expected. I will not recommend this salon because of how uncomfortable and anxious I was made to feel and the lack of communication. If you choose to go, ask lots of questions and make...
Read moreI’m so sad to report I had the worst haircut of my life here. I saw Leah for a simple women’s cut and style. I have never colored my hair, and have been told my hair is easy to work with. I asked for a trim with long layers and light face framing from my mouth down. At the end of the cut, I noticed my L side had basically long bangs cut where my R side was the face framing I had anticipated. She then said she “cut it shorter on the left of purpose” and “everyone wears their hair differently.” I was so confused by this because I had definitely not mentioned anything about uneven hair/face framing. She offered to “fix it” but at that point I was terrified of what I’d end up with so I politely declined, paid and got out of there. So here I am 5 days later trying to figure out how to style my hair so it doesn’t look ridiculous. I’ve lived all over and always find an aveda salon because I know what I’ll end up with, so disappointed is an understatement. Maybe if you request a senior stylist you’ll end up in a...
