NewCastle Comics & Games — Local services in Maryland Heights

I have been to this store a few times and the experiences were nice. I am only 4 years into my weird comic obsession and like to buy local so it was cool to find somewhere close to me to support. Well, I have decided to stop to coming here because the support staff I talked to yesterday (8/21) was rude and dismissive. I called in looking for a specific issue of a comic and when we were talking about the publisher suddenly I noticed my line was dead. I called back and explained I wanted to make sure he knew I didn't hang up on him when he briskly and rudely cut me off and declared he SAID he didn't have the comic and that he had another phone call he had to get to. I worked on the phones in a medical center or a few years so I understood, though was bit perturbed he thought hanging up was the right answer here, and I went to apologize to explain that I am hard of hearing when he cut me off, said he wished me luck looking for the comic and hung up on me again. I was made to feel an a&#hole for just checking the line didn't just go dead. I apologize I have a hearing problem, but no other business has been so rude and dismissive about it before. I've been going to NewCastle on and off for the past 3 or so years. As of last year, I have become a frequent participant in the stores activities and events. The owner, Steve, is a wonderful guy who knows his comics (as well as music and movies) and knows customer service. For the time I've spent there, no one's ever been rude to me and yes, the place is small, but it is no dump. Far from I would say. They have just about everything your looking for and if they don't, you can ask Steve to try and order it for you. He really cares about his customers and treats them more than just a "potential sale" and may even recommend other shops if he doesn't sell or buy what you're looking for because he believes in supporting other local businesses as well as expanding his own. Magic, yu-gi-oh, D&D, warhammer and heroclix are some of the groups the shop holds weekly. He sells a variety of merchandise from comics to collectible figures, video games, miniatures, tabletop games, card games and more! So don't judge a book by it's cover or rather, don't knock it till you try it. I'm sure you won't regret the trip wherever you are...

First time in, looking for Magic singles, and it was a great time. They don't do Flip-thru binders but they have something better. Their Online Singles System was ready to use and me and a Staffer went one by one, looking at the stock they had, and were able to pull a ton of what I wanted in about a 1/4 of the time it would have taken with binders. You can also access this Online Feature right from your own computer/phone, AND they do same day order pick up with their singles. Just put everything you want into the cart and send it over to get pulled and picked, once you get there they should just about have it ready! ALSO they have a TON of stock form Magic, with Booster Boxes/Packs/Singles/and Commander Decks from all across the different Realms!
