The Ritz-Carlton Maui Luau Tales of the Kapa Moe
First off, The Ritz Carlton Maui hotel is actually one of my absolute favorite spots for a Maui staycation. The grounds, location & staff are always filled with the aloha spirit. Also this Luau, the Tales of the Kapa Moe is fairly new to me. At only a couple years old. Which this also happened to be both my mother & I first VIP experience.
Arriving to the resort early, we were greeted by the valet parking attendant. Essentially already off to a great start with the VIP service. Walking towards the lobby the landscapers did a wonderful job with the greenery & is always a nice touch. Even the large floral arrangement in the lobby gives off that welcome home kind of vibe. Taking a left down a hallway & another left lead us to the two lines. Early entrance for VIP on the left & general admission on the right.
Who knew waiting a few minutes in line could be so much fun. I got to admire the location. Plus if you’re not familiar with this area. We usually get some light rain here & there. So this covered location is perfect to enjoy a night out without getting drenched. (Did you know it actually sprinkled a little during this show? It was seriously that fast & you & your food are still dry. Just one of the perks I enjoyed & wanted to share.)
After checking in you’re greeted with a lei. (Fun fact for all you guys visiting, the quickest place to get laid is at a luau. Feel free to brag to all your friends back home on how you just got laid on your Maui vacation. Your welcome.) But not only is this a nice gesture to welcome you. But it’s also an easy way for the staff to keep track of their guests.
Plus right after that you’re handed a drink either nonalcoholic or boozed up. You’re choice. Being that this was considered a work event for my mom & just personal for me. I chose the Blue Hawaiian (Tito's Vodka, Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice) cause it matched my outfit. Also cause I liked the ingredients, it’s visually a fun & a tasty drink. I ended up drinking 4.
After being shown to your seat your free to roam around. There’s a spot for having your picture taken. Some great vendors to pick up some crafts & Maui souvenirs. Plus play games & maybe get a temporary tattoo. Or head back to the bar.
Although I have to admit I’ve been to plenty of Luau’s growing up on Maui. Whether dancing or going as a guest. But I’d have to say this Luau had the best menu I’ve ever seen or had. My mouth was watering just reading the menu. Then having the opportunity to see & taste it for myself. I was literally in heaven, so kudos to everyone in the kitchen & the bar for making my first experience here worth mentioning.
The show itself was also wonderful. Nothing beats being present during a live performance with dancers & musicians. Plus if you remember going to ‘Ulalena back in the day. The MC played my favorite comedic roll, the pig. If you know, you know.
Overall a perfect night. Even the couples at our table couldn’t say enough good things about the show. They loved it so much that they’ve already come back just to see it again. So I’d have to agree & next time I’ll bring my fiancé.
Until next...
Read moreAfter purchasing this experience for my family of 8 (we have six kids), I was a little sick about spending $2k. I was thinking of all the things we could do with that money. Now that we’ve attended, I am SO glad I did it! It was absolutely a wonderful experience. My youngest is 5, my oldest is 15. Each one of them loved the food, atmosphere, music, and performances. Our server, Jason, was so great. We were grateful for the keiki food options as back up- although even our youngest ate from the regular buffet in addition to the kids’ mac and cheese. The food was all delicious, especially the poke! The mango pudding was the best dessert. The narrator for the show was very engaging- I love how he brought so much meaning to the stories performed. I loved learning more about Polynesian and Hawaiian culture. The performers were so talented and enchanting. I loved all the dances, the fire dance was so impressive! And the aerial performance with the silks was spectacular. We booked VIP tickets but I think you’d enjoy the show from anywhere. The fresh flower leis were beautiful and smelled amazing. The grounds are so pretty. We loved the professional photo, and that we didn’t have to pay extra to download it. If you’re on the fence, book it! I looked into all the options and finally settled on this one and I’m so glad I did! We walked away with such...
Read moreAn absolute 5-Star experience from start to finish. From the welcome lei and drink, to the cultural experiences, to local vendors before dinner and the show hand carving items to your specification everything was done first class. Open premium bar all evening and more often than not, you would not have to get up as the servers were all extremely attentive.
The food was incredible. I partook in a number of salads, fried rice, short ribs, huli huli chicken, and the whole roast pig. Pro tip, ask for the cheeks. They also had vegetarian and pescatarian options, including a build your own poke bar.
The performances were incredible and told a beautiful story of the Hawaiian Gods. Highlights were the Aerial Silk dance, Goddess performance with the large parachute dress, and the best fire knife performance I've ever witnessed.
I highly recommend this Luau if you are up in the mid to upper west side of Maui or from other areas if you're up...
