We went to Banyan Tree for dinner last night. I have to say, the atmosphere was fantastic, beautiful restaurant and you can hear the waves, what more can you ask for for. Service was fantastic, the hostess was superb, the server was very attentive and had a beautiful way of describing the menu items. Even the young lady who kept refilling our water glass after a very dehydrated day of hiking, was extremely nice. Canāt say enough good things about the staff. FOOD- was mostly great. Appetizer was great and for dinner we decided to split a steak, as we werenāt as hungry. Our server explained us that the chef replaced NY strip with Wagyu Ribeye and Ribeye being our favorite steak, we went for it. At $88 for a 12oz ribeye, I didnāt expect it to be top notch, but we did expect it to be good. I was concerned when it was brought to table on a large amount of chimichuri, as no good steak should be dripping chimichuri. I have to say, it was probably one of the worst steaks I ever had in a restaurant. That coupled with the fact That we were at The Ritz Carlton, and it was called Wagyu and it was $88, it made it so much worse. I would expect a fatty wagyu ribeye to be melting in my mouth, instead it was probably the toughest and most chewy steak I have had In a restaurant. I donāt eat steak that cooked more then Medium Rare, and even though the temperature was perfect medium rare, it was so extremely chewy and just tasted bad. Honestly it felt like an $8 ribeye from Safeway down the street, with a fancy name. We literally didnāt eat mlre than 4oz out of the 12oz steak. All the veggies served with it along with side of mashed potatoes and broccolini were fantastic. The only other thing that bothered me is that the server didnāt actually ask us if something was wrong with the steak, when he took our plates that all the veggies were eaten but most of the steak was still on the plate. Not a big deal, but I think an experienced server like him shouldāve wondered if something was...

From the moment we arrived, the ambiance blew us away! My husband and I made reservations for 5 PM the day before, and to our delight, we were the first guests in the restaurant. The staff greeted us warmly, inquiring about any allergies, and escorted us to the most beautiful table overlooking the ocean. š Every seat offers a stunning view, with the lush greenery and wooden ceiling creating a truly enchanting atmosphere. šæāØ
The staff was exceptionally welcoming, clearly possessing a friendly rapport with returning guests. Their knowledge shone through as they provided fantastic recommendations and were always attentive, ensuring our water glasses were never empty. š§
A special shoutout to Lara, our amazing waitress! š She was incredibly kind and attentive, perfectly balancing great service with our timing needs since we were celebrating my husband's birthday and had a flight to catch. šāļø
The focaccia arrived shortly after we ordered, and wow was it scrumptious! š With the 40oz tomahawk steak, we opted for sides of mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. While the Brussels sprouts were a tad salty (as noted in previous reviews), the mashed potatoes were absolutely divineāI'd happily devour a whole bowl! šš„ The tomahawk steak was cooked to perfection with a great sear, and the accompanying sauces were simply sublime.
Exceptional service continued as Lara boxed our remaining tomahawk slices, packaged the sauces in cute ramekins for to-go, and even surprised us with extra focaccia to enjoy on our flight! š°āļø But the crowning moment was when she celebrated with us by bringing out three delightful sugared donuts paired with luscious saucesāmango, chocolate, and coconut creamāto honor my husbandās birthday! šš„³
I cannot recommend Banyan Tree enough! The delightful staff, exquisite ambiance, and fabulous food make this a must-visit. Don't miss the focaccia, mashed potatoes, and those incredible...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I recently decided to eat at The Banyan Tree for our anniversary. I looked up the reviews on OpenTable and Google and decided to place reservations. I noticed some reviews stating the āprice for qualityā wasnāt worth it. Nonetheless, we decided to go. Our reservation was at 5:45pm on property at the Ritz-Carlton. When we arrived we instantly noticed how beautiful the scenery was. The host was very friendly and immediately sat us. A few minutes later, our waiter arrived. This is where the problems begin. My wife and I both ordered the Wagyu Filet. My wife asked the waiter if she could swap the carrots for mushrooms, and he replied they came with mushrooms. She agreed, and we placed our orders with a medium temp for our filets. One hour goes by. Still no food. Everyone else around us has already received their food. We started noticing that others were receiving their food even after arriving way after us. The waiter brings us steak knives and says your food should be out soon. That never happened. It's now 7:15 pm. The food finally arrives, one well done and the other medium rare. What just happened?? I called the waiter over, and all he had to say was, āthanks for telling meā he took my steak. My wife looks down, and there is one single mushroom on the plate. We also notice the steak isn't wagyu. It's a filet mignon. Restaurants these days should be ashamed to be throwing around the name wagyu. My filet was fixed but at a medium rare, and we both agreed that the quality of the food didn't justify the cost. The food was bland, and the vegetables were not cooked properly. After re the check, the waiter again thanks me for telling him. Like what was I going to do not tell you? The only reason I'm giving this a 2-star is that the app we ordered was good. I would recommend somewhere else to eat. It's not worth the wait for...
