The Fleming beach was is not mentioned as one best snorkeling beaches and we went there only to mark that we saw all the north-west beaches of Maui. There were some waves so we did not went to snorkel on the rocky left side but to the middle of the left area where the water shadows pointed to be a reef over there. And it was! Not a coral reef but a strange rocky formation full deep crakes and small caves and stone arches. The depth of water over this reef is about 4-8 meters and more than that so even with some waves it is not unsafe shallow water. The reef is very large and we snorkel only on the left side area without reaching its outer end because the waves were higher there. Due to the waves the water was not quite crystal clear but the visibility was good. We snorkel about one hour and half and it was great. There were not many fish but we encounter three turtles medium to big and in my opinion it was the most impressive underwater rocky landscape that I encounter in Maui. On my snorkeling marking scale in that day the score for Fleming Beach were 5 from a maximum of 5 point. For the snorkeling fans that enjoy more the underwater landscape than the marine fauna I warmly recommend Fleming Beach as very pleasant...

My sisters decided to walk over by the rocks to look for turtles ๐ข and about 5 minutes into their walk, as I was watching the surf, up pops a small turtle ๐ข head out getting some air. I'm just laughing. And about 2 minutes later I see a larger turtle in the surf. So I grab my phone call the girls, hey, I've got turtles... This beach is beautiful and if you're lucky enough to snorkel here, no doubt you will swim with sea life. We did get rained on but it's Hawaii and if you just wait a few minutes, the weather changes. There are clean restrooms, showers and a lifeguard. There is a burger shack there but we brought snacks. We arrived at 7:30 am we were determined to snorkel. Serious people go early. Hahaha. Just before my sisters returned the 3rd biggest turtle swam through the surf, needless to say they didn't believe me until one of them finally saw one for herself! Oh happy day! All in all we...

Once your past the breakers it's beautiful.....for snorkelers there's tons to look at if you swim to the right side by the rocks, current is usually mild but seems to be heading out at the right side....so take care, theres plenty of "escapes" so dont worry about getting pulled to sea. But it's for ease of access for snorkeling it's one of my favorites.
(UPDATE) have been back several times over the last year, and around xmas the waters here was murky, and the waves humongous, my 10yo son a strong swimmer had issues with the breakers....but no two beaches are the same, we drove south for 10 minutes found another beach, with crystal clear water and less waves...so just because its a windy day or the water is murky in one spot doesnt mean its like...
