I’m an out of state buyer and I called south Texas Buick GMC looking at a specific truck they had. I was very upfront and told them I was trying to decide if I should buy their truck or a used one that I found with all the exact same features. I asked for their bottom dollar and they gave me their price and I agreed to buy their truck.
So, I make travel arrangements to fly down there and fill out the credit application to continue the purchasing process. Then I get a phone call from my salesman a few hours later and he tells me they’re not making enough money on my deal so they have to charge me for a 2k dollar ceramic coat if I still want the deal….
I obviously say no, I don’t want a ceramic coating and just wanted to purchase the truck for the originally agreed price….My salesman called me and apologized for any inconvenience but they weren’t going to honor our deal now because I declined the ceramic coating.
My problem is when I first called for the price there was no mention of rebates, it was just the price which I agreed to. Then he tells me they’re not making enough money off me so I have to buy a 2k ceramic coat, not mentioning anything about me not qualifying for certain rebates…I then proceed to tell him how shady it is to agree on a price and then try to force a customer to pay for a 2k ceramic coat that they didn’t ask for. I told him I don’t want the ceramic coat and I’d like to speak to a manager to get this all straightened out….
At this point he knows I’m not happy and has his sales manager Eddie call me. And he starts to change the story of why they won’t sell me the truck. Now, it’s “I’m sorry the salesman made a mistake and it’s because the rebates and not because they weren’t making enough money off me.”
I understand people make mistakes, and maybe the salesman gave me a number he wasn’t supposed to??? But either way, we agreed on a price and I feel like as a business you should honor it…The sad part is the dealership had zero interest in trying to make the deal happen after that or to even try to make it right.
At the end of the day, I gave them multiple opportunities and even asked Eddie (Sales Manager) if this what they as a business want to do and how they want my experience to go and he said, yes.
These kinds of practices are exactly why people hate buying cars and the process you have to go through to get one. Which is unfortunate because buying a new car should be an exciting...
Read moreSouth Texas GMC/ Mission TX—Maintenance and Repair Shop Services are the worst in RGV.
Please look at my updates below so you know what you will be dealing with.
It takes unbelievably long to get an oil change, but a diagnosis or repair; God is crazy !!; leaving the vehicle is a +3-day wait, the repairs and lack of spares.
I think Robert (the Manager) doesn’t invest in personnel or pay any overtime; they are way behind the workload, and the customer is at the end of his priorities.!!!
The vehicle I bought (Canyon) is under warranty, and they don't offer anything. I visited three times in the past month and had to pay Lyft as they never had anyone to take me home or compensate for the money wasted; I have to go to a rental until, who knows, for how long…
I will never buy from South Texas GMC again and will find a better dealership for sales and maintenance.
Update - January 13, 2025: A week without the truck, waiting on parts, and they don't know when they will get it; no loaner or any assistance whatsoever. You asked to call; all I have is to be added to a WAITING LIST for a loaner; that doesn't solve the problem of being on a waiting list, right?
Update - January 22, 2025: The parts in back order finally arrived, but as I pointed out, the services department is absolutely ridiculous. Wait another whole week, as they have many repairs to finish before mine; if the customer is FIRST and claims to be the best in RGV, this does nothing but confirm what I stated at the beginning. Terrible service and planning workforce management by the service manager; they don’t invest in personnel, so we pay the price for his poor performance. Stay away from this place.
Update - January 29, 2025: They promised to be ready on 1/29/2025, but now they say, "Their technician got a bit delayed, now it is next Friday ... 1/31/2025." It is a nightmare to deal with such an irresponsible business and service.
Update- January 30,2025: Finally Received the Canyon; I went straight to trade it, and as I promised, I brought a 2025 brand new truck, but not from them.
Please think twice before you buy or take your car for service; I will follow up with Filing a...
Read moreBought a used car within my budget came with some scratches and the paint from the back is wear off.But when I got home I saw the right lenses were sweating so it was crack. When I had gotten it I saw the tire was flat so they had said they were new tires. so they went to put air before i got the insurance in the car to take it home. I notice the tire sensor was still on and they had told me if it was still on to bring to service. Then that week I got sick with covid. So once I felt better I brought it back to service because the tire was going flat and the sensor was still on and I needed my car for work. Meanwhile this was all in July. So I took it to service and the guy John said if I had any question to call him or text him. I didn't know they were keeping my car for a whole week or so till the part got there. Kept texting and calling and no one would answer me days later o texted about my car and I finally got a response if I can just pick up my car so i can use it for work amd for them to let me know when the part gets here. Meanwhile once I get there I see him sitting down and on his phone amd I couldn't get a response back when I asked about my car. So they gave me my car back and we'll the tire sensor was on but they fixed the leaked. The lenses were not fixed due to they order it. Days passed I keep calling and texting if my lenses came so I can make time since I work 1-10 shifts and no response at all or text another day passes texted him about the lenses again he response but after doesn't let me know if the lenses are there so I called to speak with the manager again no one answered and up until right now no one has answered me about my lenses and I'm with a car with a broken lense that I got there from gmc and a tire sensor on They need to communicate more and answer the calls. I know they are all sitting down on there phones scrolling through Facebook instead of letting clients know about there cars. Very unprofessional and bad service. Fix your...
