Beautiful hotel facilities! Absolutely perfect two night stay!! This was my first experience with the Cambria Hotel brand. I am totally impressed. The hotel facilities are modern and completely immaculate. From top to bottom, this hotel is exceptionally clean! The other "top" attribute is the fantastic, friendly staff associates. Every staff associate I encountered during my stay was exceptionally friendly and polite (an attribute very rare!) The hotel staff associates went out of their way to welcome my colleagues and I. There was simply nothing I didn't like about this hotel property. I was impressed with every detail; modern design and decor, functional floor plan, above average size guestroom and bath. In addition, this hotel is located in a great area, Palm Crossing, where many restaurants and retailers are within walking distance. Plus, the convention center is located adjacent the hotel. When arriving at the hotel you will find a very pleasant, welcoming lobby/registration area with lots of conversation space, including a dining and lounge area and a convenience "grab and go" with lots of food and drink options. Although the weather was not "pool weather " I did take a look and the large pool is very clean and would be really nice on a warmer day. My guestroom was amazing! One of the most uniquely designed rooms I have encountered. Completely modern decor and furnishings, obviously designed with the business traveler in mind. My guestroom was so nice I could live in it! My spacious room included a huge queen size bed, wood flooring (no carpet!), large windows, large flat screen TV, work desk area and sofa, great room lighting and fixtures, mini refrigerator and beautiful art work on the wall (see my room photos!). The bathroom was very large with beautiful, modern fixtures and great lighting, exquisite large walk in glass shower. I am not sure of the hotel's age, but it appears to be new. In fact, the entire Palms Crossing area, where the Cambria is located, looks as if it's brand new. The Cambria Hotel has my highest recommendation! If I could, I would give it ten stars! It certainly deserves ten stars! I can't wait to visit McAllen and the Cambria again soon!!
UPDATE APRIL 18TH, 2024: This is my third visit/stay at the Cambria. The Cambria is still a great hotel. Unfortunately, no internet service available during my stay. Apparently, this has been an issue here. Otherwise, an...
Read moreWould definitely not recommend based on the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever slept on. We originally had room 230 and my wife an I tried to take a nap before our dinner. The mattress made a small pit in the middle and it felt as if my body was rolling into the middle. And I'm 6 ft 1 inch tall and weigh 182 pounds so it was not my weight that caused the middle of the mattress to make that pit to roll into. We then we're moved to another room thinking it was that one mattress in 230. Well, the new room in 316 was the same. Terrible night of trying to sleep. But what really upset me was that when we unpacked our things for the night in the first room, I placed a bottle of medication on the table. But as I went to the lobby to get a new room due to the uncomfortable mattres, my wife was packing things up to move. We moved into the new room and proceeded to go to our dinner that night. When returning from dinner I looked for my medication which was in a prescription bottle, but I could not find it. I realized that it was in the previous room so I went to the front desk and was able to go back into my old room to get my meds. The old room was already fixed and my prescription bottle was not there. In the morning of checking out the front lobby was very helpful in communicating with the cleanup crew as they tried to locate the medication in a trash bag. But the trash was collected that morning by the trash collector. BUT my issue is when the person who cleaned room 230 saw the bottle of prescription why not do the common sense thing and report it in to the front desk? Damn!...
Read moreWell the place was lovely at first. Chasity (I think was her name or similar) is amazing. Since it was our first time there, she explained all times for all services with a pleasant smile! She was/is a 10 for the hotel. The honeymoon period for the hotel started to end when we showered to go to a high school graduation dinner. Hardly any pressure which is unusual for any hotel brand. The worst happened when we returned to the room Saturday evening after the dinner. We could not get our room door to close and lock. It took us both several minutes to push the door so the latch could fit in the slot and lock. ( we didn’t call down since we knew the hotel was sold out). Well it happened again the next morning when we went to have lunch . Thus, my husband and I had to take turns going down to get our food and bring it back up to eat. We did inform the front desk but we were leaving in a couple of hours and didn’t really have time for maintenance issues. The big kicker was the loud noise coming from the neighboring rooms all night long until the 5 am’ish hours. We could hear each time someone went and open/closed a bathroom door around us/. Also, the man next to us from midnight to 1’ism we think was on a phone call. So much vulgar (f word) /extremly loud talking. Unfortunately this was our first and last time there. We will stay at Embassy or Laquinta like we always have. Front desk staff lady was a gem though!!!!! ...
