@mamboseafood has some of the best boiled shrimp. The seasoning is salty, spicy and garlic filled. A perfect combination. #mcallen #mcallentx #mission #missiontx

My wife has always talked about the famed rice from Mambo's...and yes, it was definitely delicious. The rest of the food we tried was tasty but....left me wanting a little more. First...the ambience is loud and bustling. It's one large room with a high ceiling. I almost felt like I was at some fish market in Seattle...so depending on your taste, you might like or not. If you're looking for a nice romantic spot to cozy up with your date...this is not the place. But on to the food...we had the cóctel de camarones to start...was it great? It was good...the shrimps weren't too small nor too large. The cóctel tasted freshly made which is very important... personally the sauce just needed a little more kick to it. Still a nice start... The prices for the food are reasonable.. Nothing too crazy. But I got the feel that almost everything is fried. The rice to begin with is fried...even though the taste is epic. I had the stuffed crab and stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon...but the stuffing in the shrimp was the same from the crab...so it basically tastes the same. With a little more cream cheese in the shrimp...that would've been killer. The shining star here is the rice...which IMO is why it's not a 5 star place. You don't go to a seafood place to eat fried rice...no matter how tasty it is or how many proteins you put in it. You should go to eat their famous camarones or their amazing cócteles. But still...the rice is definitely some of the best in town. I'd recommend this place so you can at least try their Mambo rice...once you've tried it...it just might keep bringing you back.

Mambos in McAllen is a delightful spot that truly embodies the spirit of lively dining with its vibrant atmosphere and flavorful offerings. Situated in the bustling heart of McAllen, Texas, Mambos quickly draws you in with its cheerful decor and welcoming vibe.

One of Mambos' standout features is its extensive menu that flaunts a rich array of Tex-Mex and seafood options, each dish prepared with an evident dedication to flavor and presentation. The seafood is particularly noteworthy, fresh and perfectly seasoned, bringing the zest of the Gulf right to your plate. The garlic butter shrimp and ceviche are notable favorites, both bursting with flavor and freshness, making them standout options for seafood lovers.

Mambos also excels in their drink offerings, notably their range of margaritas which are both potent and refreshing. Whether you’re coming in for a casual lunch or a lively dinner with friends, one cannot go wrong with opting for their signature cocktails.

Service at Mambos is another highlight. The staff is attentive and courteous, always ready to recommend dishes or swiftly attend to your dining needs, enhancing the overall dining experience.

The vibrant and rhythmic music adds an extra layer to the atmosphere, creating a lively backdrop that complements the dining experience without overpowering conversation. Whether you’re here for a family gathering or a night out, Mambos provides a setting that is both casual and festive, making it a must-visit in McAllen.

Overall, Mambos captures the essence of Tex-Mex dining with its flavorful dishes, lively atmosphere, and attentive service, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors...

Visited Mambo's in Mission, Tx end of this HOT Summer June month w/our Tias (aunts) residents of RGV whom recommended this place. Seafood here is definitely fresh & delicious, satisfying & well worth it's up scale price compared to other,"run of the mill," restaurants. Their cucumber agua fresca w/piquete (cucumber water w/vodka) is definitely a must taste! Without piquete is also just as good. Service while we dined was a bit busy where some of us that had hot food orders were out while others had to wait for ours when our order was a cold prep (vuelve a la vida cocktail) which should have been a breeze to have everyone's food out for all to enjoy together. I should have placed the to go order of grilled huachinango (Red Snapper) while we dined for our convalescent Tia (aunt) due to the 20 min wait our gentleman server warned. No worries, we enjoyed our time shared w/Tias while we dined & waited. However, 20 minutes seemed longer. Tipped handsomely for gr8 food. Even as we were leaving, server was kind enough to run outside w/a lemonade to go we had forgotten/left behind. That was nice of the gentleman considering it was a busy day for them. Will most definitely return here...
