Hollywood Feed — Local services in McKinney

I've always heard great things about this retailer and now that I have moved to this area there are a few close. I have been thinking about changing my dog's food but had no idea what to go to. I've read so many reviews and there aren't two that agree and just increased my confusion. I walked in yesterday evening hoping for some help and if I didn't get any I would have probably left and stuck with the same food (which is quality and ranked highly). As soon as I walked in a young lady offered help, asked the right questions, showed me some options. She had exceptional knowledge of the different brands they carry especially since my dog has some dietary restrictions. She didn't start with the really premium (expensive) stuff but I asked about it. She explained all the benefits and I went with it, I don't skimp when it comes to my pup even in these times. My dog loves it, she practically attacked me before I could set the bowl down and ate it all which she didn't do with her previous food and I feel good that she is eating better. I'm sold on this place, love the customer service, feel they only carry brands they approve of, stand behind those brands with a if it doesn't work bring it back guarantee and the prices are in line with the national pet chains for the few items they both carry, I'm a customer. So many great things to say about Hollywood Feed in McKinney. We get consistently great customer service from several different employees who are all knowledgeable and friendly so... whoever does staff training here really knows how to do a great job. They have rescue pet associates with dogs on-site pretty often, yet the store is always clean and fresh. A+++

update Went to your store tonight at 5:30 to buy $120 worth of Country Naturals. I had always received the absolute best possible customer service until tonight. I walked in to a store vacant of other customers to see 2 female employees chatting between themselves at the cash register while one girl was throwing freight by herself. I asked for help as I walked past the counter to head for the back of the store. I waited by the big bags of food in vain. After making two trips to bring bags to the front I asked if they’d heard me ask for help and they said no. They offered to help carry out but were sort of curt and non- friendly on the way to the car. I am used to getting greeted and then followed to see if I need help. I would be so bummed if I was the manager of this store and walked in to see this going on. I’m still giving you five stars because I feel sure this is a training issue and will not be...

We had a difficult situation with the dog that we are currently fostering. This dog had been living in the wild for about a year, and had avoided capture by experts several times. After finally being captured, she ran away multiple times from her first foster family. We have now had her for six months, but she is still at risk of startling easily, and running. We have only recently been able to transport her in a car, but because of her size and strength, and risk of running, we needed a strong, large harness to keep her safely in our car. The staff at Hollywood Feed first, was very patient and attentive to hearing our story and need to fit our dog within a harness in our car, rather than risk bringing our dog into the store from the parking lot. She was exceedingly understanding, helped us pick out the appropriate harness that fit, and came out to our car to meet our dog, and to make sure the harness fit, and would work appropriately. She was extremely kind, and brought a treat for our dog as well. We couldn’t have been happier with how everything went with a situation that was quite tense for us.
