I was super excited for our brand new Whole Foods to finish its construction, so that we and the entire city of McKinney could enjoy this new store, along with all of the other new things around the area. This store was very much anticipated (along with the entire plaza). Some thoughts:
Aesthetics: Of course it is a beautiful store. The store was built like most of Dallas is built, or like most suburbs and its homes are built. Very clean, modern, and spacious. The parking lot can get a little too crowded because of the shared space with some of the other, new businesses there which can be super inconvenient and it seems like it was an after-thought.
Downfall: Inflation has been high for a while now (years), BUT Whole Foods has always been expensive which is why so many refuse to go there or why there are other stores similar in values of maintaining healthy foods and high standards, such as Trader Joeâs for example. The prices now at any Whole Foods is truly nuts and goes beyond any normalcy unless you live in Malibu, London, etc Whole Foods NEEDS to rethink. The selection of foods offered at the hot bar, and near the deli is so limited. It is primarily (no joke) Indian cuisine â which is confusing... the clientele is certainly not all Desi in McKinney, this particular store, nor the nearby suburbs, so why cater to mostly Indian cuisine? A nice mixture of Caucasian, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean would be more correct and appealing. There are Desi stores in all of DFW for a reason, but a Whole Foods or a Trader Joeâs is universal. The other downfall is the CUSTOMER SERVICE - those who are working in the aisles and shelving, organizing, etc are completely rude. No one hardly asks if you need help or if you have questions, employees can be heard discussing matters or arguing, and everyone seems to be very young. If youâre in their way with your cart, no one hardly acknowledges you or apologies for anything. The cash register area of employees is very underwhelming unlike a majority of Whole Foods stores. Overall, the store needs better customer service if the store is charging $14 for any almond or peanut butter, $9 for bad and moldy blueberries, easily $20+ a pound for almost any meat, attentive workers,...
Read moreI was so excited for this location to open and I wasnât that impressed. The aisles were clean and organized. The exterior of the store is really beautiful with a rustic charm. But thatâs all that it has going for it. But the hot bar and salad bar was very underwhelming. We went in for dinner and the options were very limited. Not many protein options at all. Also, why does this location only have two single restrooms? For being a Whole Foods and given the heavy customer traffic it gets on a daily, you would expect them to have multiple stalls! And seriously, gender neutral restrooms?! Come on! Not only that, the restrooms were ABSOLUTELY FILTHY. The store opened on August 27th and we went in on the 29th and they already canât even keep their restrooms clean. Things like this matter and should be kept at a high standard, especially when it just opened.
UPDATE: September 22, 2025 Been trying the hot bar for a few weeks and it seems like they only accommodate to the Indian population. The food is always some sort of curry or Indian cuisine. I would like to see more variety in the hot bar for...
Read moreOverall its clean and organized, but I donât understand why the store underestimated the heavy amount of traffic itâd receive. I was hoping whole foods wouldnât make the same mistake as the Target on 380/preston did by not being a normal sized store, but I was wrong as it seems more like a âwhole foodsâ neighborhood market. There are only 5 or 6 self checkout areas, whereas other whole foods have about 10 or more. There are also only 2 restrooms, when typically other locations have a womens and mens restroom separately with multiple stalls. Worst of all, they donât have a coffee bar, which honestly is very disappointing. I donât think Whole Foods realizes how popular and âtrendyâ their coffee bar is as it attracts a lot of their customers, so they really dropped the ball here not only for the customers but for their business too. Nice store but wish they wouldve just built it like their...
