I hate to leave a bad review for a new business, but I’m hoping leaving this review will help improve service. I used to be a server for a well known restaurant, so being a server I always give the server a pass especially if they are busy. I’ll start by saying the restaurant was not busy. Our server took our order we didn’t get our drinks until the food came out. I ordered coffee. It’s usually a nice experience dining out and enjoying the first cup of coffee while I wait for the food to be prepared. When she dropped off the coffee she gave me regular sugar instead of the sweet n low that I asked for. I had to wait awhile for my first sip as it took the server a long time to bring me the sweet n low. My daughter and I ordered grits. We were not given spoons for the grits. I asked a different server that was standing close by for spoons. As she didn’t care , we weren’t given spoons. I had to stand up and look for someone to give us spoons. When the food was served it was just dropped off. Usually the person that drops off food will ask if we need anything else. We were never asked so I was never given the hot sauce that would have been good with my omelette. My coffee cup stayed empty after the first cup. Felt like a rip off considering I paid for coffee that is supposed to come with free refills. It’s like our server never came by to check on us. When I wanted to leave I had to get up to ask for check. My daughter was charged fifty cents for bread for her egg sandwich. Last time I checked an egg sandwich comes with bread. I paid cash and wasn’t given the change. If your restaurant doesn’t carry change, I understand, but at least tell the customer. Being a server in the past I understand how important tips are. But when I was a server I worked hard for those tips. To be lazy is unacceptable. I almost didn’t leave a tip. I decided to only leave $2.00. The server lost money on me as I usually tip no less than $10.00. I hope the manager trains the employees better. Such a shame to spend $40.00 and leave very unhappy. I can say with all the other brunch places in my area I see no...
Read moreI hate to leave a bad review for such a beautiful and new place (among the rest of the place that just newly opened), but despite what the appearance is, this establishment is not it.
I’m not big on outside breakfast food anyway, as most of it just comes out to be very “diner” and bland, unless you’re traveling and eat breakfast that is top-notch around hotels, airports, etc so I will say, I am a little biased. However, I am a stickler for good quality, well-made and delicious foods. Keke’s takes just like something you would find anywhere in the country, or any diner.
The food is so bland, massive portions which aren’t good, everything tastes watered down and they serve basic jams and condiments you can find anywhere. The menu, however, states it’s all the best quality and made-in-house? Just no. There’s also, an odd smell to their items as you sit there which shouldn’t be the case in a brand new, expensive establishment that has everything “made-in-house.”
The employees were just blah as well. The greeter at the front was nice, and they seat you down. The waiters are just okay — everyone seemed to be so sleepy and blah. There is no premium, smiley, positive customer service. There is a manager which seems super young that came to our table because we had a credit on file for a prior issue with takeout. She just stood at our table, no smile, no open conversation asking us anything other than to see our previous order so that she can honor a credit even though, at the time, we were told the credit would just simply be in their system or just written down on their end and they’ll be sure to take care of us next time. Where is the customer service on just asking someone how their day is? Possibly acknowledging the past issue with an order and being very happy to give us a credit today? Anything? Just a bad energy, rubbed off type of vibe.
Does anyone in DFW like their jobs? Is anyone awake? Service is a hit or miss in most places, even new and nice places, even expensive or...
Read moreWe were thrilled to discover that KeKe’s has opened its doors in McKinney, conveniently located at the intersection of Custer and 380—exactly what our community needed: a fresh, niche breakfast café. Naturally, we chose to visit on one of the busiest days of the year—Mother’s Day!
While we expected a wait due to the holiday rush, upon entering, we were charmed by the open, clean, and modern ambiance, accompanied by the delightful aromas of sizzling bacon and freshly prepared breakfasts. Our waitress greeted us with a warm, inviting smile and promptly apologized for the delay, letting us know that the kitchen was a bit backed up but that she would do everything possible to minimize our wait—her service was exceptional.
I opted for the Apple Cinnamon Waffle paired with scrambled eggs and a side of that irresistible bacon, while my wife chose the Philly Steak Omelette with hash browns, and my son indulged in the Stuffed Nutella French Toast. I can confidently say that the wait was worth it—everything we ordered was delicious. Unlike many apple cinnamon waffles I’ve had in the past, which are often oversweet and heavy, this one struck the perfect balance, leaving me feeling satisfied but not weighed down. My son was enamored with his Nutella French toast, which was light and cooked to perfection.
