Paciugo Gelato Caffé — Restaurant in McKinney

Paciugo Gelato in McKinney is truly one of a kind! The gelatos here are absolutely amazing I honestly don’t think there’s another gelato place in the area that compares. They have so many unique flavors, and their Gelatte is a must-try for coffee lovers. I love that you can choose any gelato flavor for your Gelatte such a cool idea!

Today I noticed their hours were listed as 10 AM – 10 PM, but I called about 10 minutes after closing just to check if there was any way to buy some gelato. To my surprise, someone answered and kindly told me they were closed, but after I mentioned I lived far away and loved their Dubai Chocolate gelato, he said I could stop by and he’d have a pint ready for me.

When I got there, I had such a great conversation with the person who answered the phone — he was so humble, polite, and genuinely appreciative. I later found out he’s actually the owner, which made it even more impressive! He went out of his way to help me after hours and even offered me a medium gelato to enjoy on my drive home.

I was really excited to find a gelato place in the area and was looking forward to trying it. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience. There were three staff members serving, and only two customers (together) ahead of me. One of them simply asked which flavors were gluten-free — but surprisingly, all three staff, along with (I believe) the manager or owner, were trying to figure out the answer. I don’t understand why it took so many people to serve one order, especially while others were waiting. I ended up waiting for 11 minutes without being acknowledged, and eventually left disappointed. It was extremely hot inside, the gelato was already melting as the employee tried to scoop it into the cup for the customer in front of us. As soon as we walked in, one of the employees rolled her eyes, as if annoyed she had to tend to another customer.
