I dropped off my laptop at The Computer Specialist on May 11, 2018 for specific repairs. Not hearing from anyone for days, I called the store five different times for an update. The response was either the technician hadn’t begun working or was currently working on it, but my questions were not being specifically answered: How long was it going to take? How much was it going to cost? When will the laptop be ready? Finally I got an e-mail on May 21, telling me the total cost for parts but did not give me a reasonable amount of time to perform the work, and the cost was going to be $65 an hour. So, what was I supposed to think? 5 hours of work? 10 hours of work? How much was this going to ultimately cost me? The next day, I asked them if they could repair one part of the laptop, and the response was the store could order the part which would come by the end of the week and begin working on it next week. I was like, “Why didn’t you do this already 10 days ago????” Having had enough, I decided to get my laptop back with no work done and was given a bill for $25 for “diagnostic fee,” which was never disclosed to me upfront in person or e-mail. Overall, my laptop was in the shop for 11 days, no work was ever performed, and I was not given answers to specific questions, and as a result, I lost over two thousands of dollars in potential profits because certain programs in my laptop were needed to perform the work for my business. Now, I foresee this place going out of business one day, and everything I’ve said in my review is 100% accurate, so don’t be surprised when a representative of the store posts a response to discredit some or all...
Read moreI was wrong! They did contact me. They emailed--telling me to bring it in!. I just wasn't expecting email and never looked! So, I recind my previous review. I brought it back in and they fixed it--while I waited, I might add--it was a simple thing. The boot order got messed up. Took like 5 minutes or less. They did do a good job on my computers (I actually took 2. One needed a new ssd and the other was not updated with the "nonimportant" widows update- I don'teven know where that is on windows 10! The charges for this particular issue were quite reasonable. The othercwas a little more than I expected but they did get all of my info off the dead hard drive, so I'm a happy camper!) I was mad because no one contacted me, but they did! I am chagrinned! So, the work was great, time to repair was great, and the people are nice. I will go...
Read moreI called The Computer Specialist about our office printer that was saying we had a paper jam, but we couldn't find it. From the very beginning, Eric, was very helpful. He brought the printer into their office for me, since it is rather heavy. He spent a great deal time trying different things, including cleaning some of the parts. When he was not able to get the printer to stop showing the error message, he suggested another place that may be able to help. Because he was unable to fix it, he did not charge me anything, even though he must have spent at least 20 minutes trying to fix it. He was very patient and courteous with me the whole time that I was there. And even helped me take it back to my car. I would highly...
