My gf and I walked in at 7:50 PM on 07/22/24 and no one was at the counter. We waited there for 5 minutes and no one came. Thankfully another patron saw our desperation and flagged down the GM who was in plain clothes talking to customers at the far end of the bowling alley. Instead of greeting us or apologizing about the wait, he initiated the conversation by saying that he’s going to be honest with us and that it’d be cheaper to come back on a Tuesday because they close at 9pm on Mondays and that the games are a lot cheaper on Tuesdays. I asked if they charged by the game. He said yes, on Mondays it’d be $5.50/person as opposed to $2.00 on Tuesdays. He was talking about saving $3.50 which was insulting because no one asked him about prices or discounts. We were there to spend time with one another. He went on to say that we also should come back because on Tuesdays he has help so they’d have food then also. I shared my disappointment because we wanted food. The GM suggested that we left and go to the Flying Saucer restaurant on the corner. In front of him, I said to my gf that it sounded like he wanted us to leave so let’s go where we’re wanted. The GM replied that that wasn’t the case at all because he’s the GM and he was just trying to save us money. Again, very insulting. I didn’t dignify him with a response and we left. I understand that it’s hard to get good help but if this organization’s culture is focused on money, having a leader like that hemorrhaging money seems counterproductive. We’ll never be back to enjoy those savings. Hopefully this reaches someone who matters more than the GM made us...
Read moreRecently brought a large group of students here for a field trip. We have come here several times before and it was always a wonderful experience. However, this time was a disaster. We were quoted a price for one hour of bowling and lunch consistently of pizza and soda for the students. When we arrived they informed us that they had run out of pizza (this despite the fact that they new WEEKS in advance that we were coming that morning). Despite the fact that they had us spread out across three groups of lanes, we got our kiddos started bowling. As lunch time neared, we noticed that the woman who said she was going to get pizza had still not returned. We spoke with the workers there, letting them know that we had to board our bus by a certain time. They made a phone call and told us that we could just pay for the bowling. Our group is sponsored two different nonprofits, who both agreed to the proposed discount. One group was charged the discounted rate, the other was charged almost double that! An overcharge in excess of $200. When I spoke to the girl at the counter, her response was, "That's what she said to charge you." This was after she told me that we were getting a discount due to the lack of lunch. She then gave me the name and number of the other woman. Last year, I purchased a Groupon for this bowling and chose to celebrate a birthday here. Read the fine print and called the day before to reserve the lanes and inform them we’d be using a Groupon. The attendant said we were all set! We arrived with our party and was told we couldn’t use the Groupon on a weekend despite it not being displayed on the Groupon or even being told when making our reservation. Speaking to the owner only furthered my disappointment as she shrugged and said she couldn’t help us. She told me to try to get a refund but once I did she wouldn’t approve the request or return any other of my phone calls. I was completely disappointed. After that encounter I decided I wouldn’t patronize this business.
Fast forward a year later right before my Groupon expired I called to use the money I’d already spent and was greeted by Courtney! She assured me she would take care of us and was extremely accommodating. Her display of excellent customer service and desire to be an upstanding human blew my family out of the water especially since it’s a night and day different experience! Thank you Courtney so much!
