I still enjoy shopping here because of the variety of high-quality and interesting items and the very nice staff, but I buy less and less as their prices keep getting more unreasonable. For example, used Hanes beefy tees are listed for $10 (can be purchased new for $7-8) and a worn out Champion crewneck goes for $35 (same as new). I’ve also noticed a trend toward more “clearance” sales with rotating categories of 50-75% off and more color-coded tag discounts. While that’s kind of fun, the notion of a volunteer-run thrift store—that gets all of their merchandise for free and has no labor costs—running so many “clearance” sales and promotions seems weird to wrong. It’d be really nice if merchandise were just priced more reasonably (e.g. 50% below retail or better) and turned over more quickly…the back room is usually stuffed and employees often complain about having too much inventory, which could be solved with better pricing!

Read moreI have been coming here for several years and love the selections, though they are often pricy. Much of my apartment is decorated with items that I found here, so I'm sad to say that I will no longer be supporting this charity shop.
Unfortunately, one of the volunteers who is currently working there is rude, and the last time I was there, she was explicitly racist, telling a woman who was checking out that her mother could not come to the shop if she didn't speak English because "everyone in America speaks English." I hope this lady quits or, ideally, is fired for her completely...
Read moreSanta Cruz Ave. has 3 thrift stores, but this one’s the best 🥇I’ve gotten a Marithe Francois Girbaud collared shirt and Dansko clogs, each for $5, and a Cop Copine top and Max Mara suede jacket, each for $40. Not totally thrift prices, but I don’t mind paying less than $100 for all of that! Yesterday I got the Limited Editions Club printing of Malcolm Cowley’s Exile’s Return for $4 🏆 The volunteer staff is super helpful, friendly, resourceful, and knowledgeable - about everything. This store is always busy and seems to attract good merchandise. It def...
