I am never the type of person to write negative reviews, but I felt I needed to say something.
My wedding was Sept. 7 this year. I was recommended to go to Cocoās by two people and I read many raving reviews about this seamstress, so this is why I decided to travel an hour to go here to get my wedding dress altered.
My dress didnāt require too terribly much. It needed to come in a couple of inches around the waist, hemmed, off the shoulder sleeves shortened and tightened, and a bustle.
I had my first appointment Jan 30. for the basic fitting and plan of action.
My next appt wasnāt scheduled until June 4. Coco had hemmed only the outer layers of the dress and shortened the sleeves, but it was still too big in the waist, and needed a bustle. We planned for the placement of my bustle on this day. She also informed me that my sleeves did NOT need to be tightened. She left the inner layers bustled and never told me it was uneven and extremely visible from behind. These should have been hemmed, but I didnāt find out till later.
She didnāt want to schedule me earlier than August 22nd for my next appointment. Just two weeks before my wedding.
She said I couldnāt come sooner. I felt uneasy about waiting just two weeks prior, but trusted her.
At my appt on August 22nd, the dress was still too big in the waist, but I was willing to cut my losses due to the time crunch, but the bustle was in the wrong place and looked horribly odd. So I asked her to sew the bustle buttons where we had originally planned during our appointment June 4th.
In addition, the spaghetti strap sleeves still felt too loose to me, and she never installed hanging straps to relieve the weight and pressure off of the straps of the dress.
She then scheduled me to pick it up the following Monday 8/25. That day I had left work early to make the 1 hour drive, but then she called to cancel due to a flight tire.
We rescheduled for Thursday 8/28, but she canceled a second time, for the same reasonāa flat tire. Another day I had arranged to get off work early.
We rescheduled again, for Friday 8/29 (just over a week before my wedding at this point).
Coco had done nothing to my dress when we got there. The bustle had not been fixed.
She asked us to come back the following morning, but I told her we canāt keep making the 1 hour drive back and forth, and it wouldnāt work with my schedule. So she said to go find something to do in town, and give her an hour and a half.
I left for two hours, with no word from Coco, came back to the store, and sat for another hour before she was ready for me.
She left holes from where she originally put the bustle in the wrong spot. There were threads sticking out of the dress everywhere. There were loose buttons. She never made a new bustle, and just reinforced a single existing button that closes the dress above the waist. Still too big in the waist. The straps were still too loose. She never steamed the dress (which I was informed is uncommon for a seamstress to not steam a dress before sending it off).
Despite all these flaws unfixed I was not willing to leave my dress with her for any more time due to my wedding being a week away.
With Labor Day weekend being that weekend, I could not find a seamstress to help me until the Wednesday before my wedding.
My new seamstress worked miracles, and was appalled by the work Cocoās had done, and the disarray my dress was left in. They also said the service and time management was extremely unprofessional and not standard.
The new seamstress made a world of difference in just two days. Cocos had my dress from January all the way to a week before the wedding, I truly wish I would have never drove an hour...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's impossible to rave about this establishment and its employees and practices enough! I had been taking my wedding dress to another local tailor for 6+ months and we were having trouble communicating. My wedding dress was a few sizes to big for me, so it needed to be altered to my size. The tailor that I had been seeing prior to finding Coco had assured me for months that it would be easy for her to make my dress fit perfect. Then less than a month before my wedding, in what was supposed to be my final fitting where...well, it would fit, it still didn't. She assured me then that it looked great and when I explained that I would like her to fix it and make it actually fit me correctly, she said it would be very expensive to do so. We had already paid her a large lump sum of money. To make matters worse, when I then inquired how expensive she was thinking and why when I had paid for her to make it fit, she said she didn't have time to change it now and that it looked perfect so she didn't understand what the problem was. I was devastated. I frantically searched the web for another tailor, just to get a second opinion, to see if this really was the way that I had to look on my wedding day. I found that Coco's Off The Rack was very close, called, and set up my appointment. BEST DECISION EVER MADE. Coco and her amazing daughter took immaculate care of me from the moment we met, keeping me calm and stress free when I was worried and frantic. Coco was very respectful and professional about my situation, never bad talking the other local tailor, but pointed out all of the reasons why my dress wasn't fitting correctly, even after months and months of tailoring. Coco made my dress fit me like perfection in just a few weeks!!! I couldn't believe it. I was stunning on my day, felt like the most beautiful woman alive, and it was many thanks to Coco. Not only is she superb at her work, the customer service that she and her daughter give is amazing as well. They are the sweetest, kindest people. I am so fortunate to have met and found Coco's Off The Rack and I will be recommending them to everyone I know. I SO appreciate you ladies! I'll be in with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI felt so lucky to find a shop like Coco's for my wedding dress alteration! There's nothing scary for a bride than imagining the tailor ruining your gown. Not only did Ms. Coco and Casey do an incredible job with my dress, but they also constantly made me feel beautiful and confident. I came in for multiple fittings (due to the fact that I lost so much weight!), and I had an amazing visit each time. I had Ms. Coco add a modesty panel to my dress, shorten the straps, take in the sides, hem the bottom, and add a bustle. I was so relieved at the price. For all that work, I thought it would cost a lot more than it did. Plus, my dress was all lace, so I know she had more intricate work to do. She pulled it off amazingly. I thought the bustle was the most beautiful addition. I really cannot thank Casey and Ms. Coco enough for being so accommodating and for making me both calm and beautiful for the...
