[NOTE: See addendum at bottom] I went into this store and spoke with a sales rep about trading in my phone for the iphone 13 pro. He asked what I was using now and I told him that I have a Samsung Galaxy S9. He proceeds to tell me that I should stick with what I know and not try to learn a new phone because the software is totally different and I would find it difficult. I was a little confused by this and asked him why he thought I couldn't learn new software. He then compares me to his mother who has an iphone and struggles with it and calls him all the time with questions or issues with the phone.
I told him I would still like to look at one; instead, he brings me over to the Galaxy phones and tells me he won't show me the iphone because I won't be able to learn it. So, I look briefly at the Galaxy phones and he then says, "Why don't you come back next month and we'll see what kind of deals we have then for you."
I left the store feeling very defeated and discriminated against because of my age. I am 62 years old but I am fully capable of learning new software; having recently retired after working in an office environment for 30 + years, I was working on computers BEFORE Windows came along (anyone remember DOS?) .
I went to Best Buy that is just down the road from this store and was treated fairly and with respect. I purchased the iphone 13 and, surprise!, was able to get my apps on the phone, set up my contacts, as well as figure out all the many nuances that come with learning new software.
I would not recommend going into any Verizon store, let alone this store in Okemos on Grand River - go to Best Buy to trade in your phone or, if you are going to upgrade to an iphone specifically, your other option is the Apple Store. This Verizon store is agiest.
UPDATE: Travis, the manager, contacted me directly and we spoke about this incident. He was apologetic and stated he would speak with the sales person involved. He was not able to provide a reason for my treatment but agreed that it should not have happened. I believe that Travis will take the appropriate steps so that this does not happen in his store again. Thank you Travis for listening to my...
Read moreVerizon STOLE $1,000 DOLLARS from my husband and I through this store. A few years ago we went in as android users, both with the newest flagship Samsung galaxy note phones at the time. We had been unhappy with the customer service with our previous provider and thought we’d have better luck with Verizon - WRONG. We even have a business account with them which gives us better perks. Anyways a year and 6 months into our service relationship with them (we’d traded in our brand new $1,000 dollar phones with them, gotten our new iPhones by then and had them for that long) suddenly our bill skyrockets to more than $120 MORE per month and they tried to tell us that when we sent in our IDENTICAL new phones (different colors, same model) to trade in, that they received a different phone for my trade in. This was incorrect and we’ve spent many Saturday’s going into stores and even time on the phone with WILLIAM JEFFERIES (their regional manager) to try and solve this. Interesting thing is - the guys in the store could see they’d actually received the correct phone but couldn’t do anything about it without higher privileges in their system - hence the contact with William. However he was incredibly unhelpful and we continue to have to pay back the $1,000 because they say they got a lesser phone. So now here we sit having given them my new $1,000 phone in return for the new iPhone and still paying for the phone like we never had a trade in to begin with. BUYER BEWARE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR YOUR PHONE SERVICE NEEDS.
Edit 9/25: We ended up having to report Verizon to the FCC and were finally able to receive a reasonable resolution but for all the headaches, and the many hours spend in the store and on the phone over multiple months, I can’t wait to say...
Read moreI went in today to activate my two new iphone 6's and when I walked in I was acknowledged by a nice gentlemen that asked me how he can help me. This was the only positive that came from walking in there today. The gentlemen that actually asked me how I was doing I believe was in training because after I told him I was in to activate my new iphones he went to another associate to ask what to do with me. He was directed by his associate to have me sit in the waiting area and call a activation number. I was taken back by this because I was the only one in the store with at least 4 employees and they wanted me to call the number to activate the phones. I figured this would be something they could have done for me, maybe some customer service. So after I called the activation number the lady I spoke with even stated she thinks it was ridiculous for me to be calling and that the store should be taking care of it. I mean I did spend around $1000.00 for these phones you think they'd try and make it easy on me and activate them. So she actually calls the store to tell the employees that she thinks it was wrong for them to have me do the activation process without there help. After that call to the store you think the associates would then try and help me, nope still no customer service, they just gave me bad looks. What upsets me about this situation is that I came in there asking for there help and they just pushed me into there waiting area and had me do there work. Very unprofessional and unaccommodating. I guess this stores policy is to have the customers do the work and they get paid for it. If you are looking for help do not come...
