This was my favorite goodwill store for the last 10 years until today. Every time I’ve gone here only about half of the items in the housewares section have price stickers. The ones on the shelves are the worst with having no price stickers. Usually at check out they price it and I pay and go on my merry way.
Today, a gentleman came and placed a plastic wrapped child’s wooden small vanity with stool out on the floor. I immediately asked him since it was wrapped in plastic, “how much is that, and is it for sale?” Because items are rarely wrapped in plastic unless they are towels etc. he said, yes it’s just not priced yet. I asked well can we get someone called over here to price it? He said, “the person who prices it is at the front of the store” I then asked ok, can I place it in my basket and get it priced when I check out? He said sure.
I finish shopping, I got a pair of socks, new memory album in box both had price tags. I found a heart shaped IKEA wall lamp on my way out of the housewares section but it had no price tag on it. So, I wanted it and usually the cashier prices it for me. As I place it on the counter, I say I couldn’t locate a price tag, but I would still like to buy it. The manager who was called over because they almost refused to sell me the wooden vanity set because she states “the person who prices things isn’t working”
In the end, she made me feel like she was accusing me of trying to be nefarious in some way. I was letting them set the price! I wasn’t trying to get anything for free or cheaper than they were going to ask for the item.
She said and I quote, “I’m not comfortable with how many items are missing price tags here” and I’m not going to sell you the red heart wall lamp.” Basically only 2 of the 4 items had price stickers.
Like what part of refusing to sell items at a store to a paying customer makes any sense???
This was my third trip here this week because I live a couple hours away and have been visiting family. Worst experience ever to wait in line and have to let almost 6 people come and go ahead of me because I was pulled aside waiting for the “manager” to run around the store for unknown reasons before she returned with her answer of “I’ll sell you the vanity set for 14.99 but I WILL NOT sell you the light.” I am always polite so I said okay that’s fine.
All of this happened in front of so many people and I’m so offended by the way I was spoken too. I won’t be going back to this store ever again. I will drive further to a much better location with proper customer service. It’s one thing to let a customer down it’s another to be angry and have an attitude towards the customer for things not the fault of the buying consumer which is what happened.
Also I over paid! After taking all the plastic wrap off, the mirrors are cracked and scratched. I’ve purchased items for our generation dolls before that sell brand new for over 100.00 at Target at the goodwill in Burleson, TX for 5.99. So, I don’t understand their pricing process or policy and you can’t and shouldn’t treat the customer like it’s their fault.
If it’s not for sale it shouldn’t be on the floor. But I even double checked and asked. I’m sure this is all on video. I never really complain or write reviews but I felt a very racial undertone today and I was the only person around who was not African American for a change it wasn’t the other way around. Just unnecessary and inappropriate. I’m a single mom who never judge people by their appearance. I only wanted to redecorate my my daughter’s room on a budget so could afford. Now I will be looking to replace the mirrors because there are sharp edges that can cut little fingers, not angry but disappointed in this entire mess of...
Read moreI will no longer be donating to Goodwill! I was sitting in my vehicle and waiting on a patron to unload his trailer full of items at the Goodwill on Gus Thomasson in Mesquite. There were 2 vehicles in front of me. After about 7 to 8 minutes of waiting, I backed up and pulled in one of the 3 spaces directly in front on the donation drive thru, thinking I could just walk up and give my 1 bag to another attendant. The attendant who was chatting it up with the patron with the trailer full of items asked me if I was there to donate. I told him yes I was. He then told me I had to get in the drive thru line to donate. Mind you, I had one bag in my hand. I told him that I’ve been waiting nearly 10 minutes and I asked him how much longer he thought it would take. He said, “ however long it takes!” I asked him, “ you mean I can’t just hand off my donation to the other attendant?” He said NO and that I had to get in the driveway thru if I wanted to donate, and wait however long it took to do so!!!! Are you kidding me?!!! At that point I proceeded to back out and left the Goodwill parking lot. I will not put up with rudeness and silly policies when I’m trying to give. I’d rather give my items to the homeless person on the street!!!! Good riddance “Good”will !!!
I found out later while googling that I can call and schedule a pickup from my home with the Salvation Army! That’s what I’ll do from...
Read moreFirst and only time going to this Goodwill location. Staff was rude & had very poor customer skills; I had multiple problems with them from -literally- the first step I took into the store. There was lot of yelling and boisterous activity coming from them, it was very uncomfortable. Later, family tried to join me in the store and a very rude employee chased them back out of the store over an honest & simple mistake that could have been handled more professionally and courteously. Wow, two for two on poor impressions as soon as customers step into the store. The place was not organized as well as other Goodwills I have visited and considering what I have already stated about the staff, I was not impressed with anything this place had to offer. Ended up going to the Goodwill Superstore just a few minutes up the road on I-30 in Garland, TX. Much better selection, much better organization, and a much better staff. I recommend going to that...
