First I would like to say, it was a struggle to even try to make an appointment. I was on the phone w the receptionist for over 20 minutes. She had no idea how to complete the simple task. When I asked her questions regarding prices, she didn’t even know that. I wanted to know how much a cut and style would be. She says, “each stylist charges different price depending on the level of stylist. She told me to bring about 200.00 to be on the safe side. I felt that was a bit much but I agreed and finally set the date. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel appointment so I emailed 4 days prior to my appointment. I also phoned the salon and left a voicemail message since they were closed. When they opened up on Wednesday, I phoned them to ensure they received the email/voice message. (Basically I wanted to be considerate & allow someone else to receive the time slot). I was told that I never had an appointment to begin with. (Just Imagine had I driven there the day of). I explained to the receptionist that I made one in August for September 24th. She said it wasn’t there and she was clueless to what I was taking about. I receive a call a short time later from another receptionist “trying to offer clarity”, by conveying that somehow I had two profiles w them (a mistake on the previous receptionist). She conveyed that she received my email and voicemail regarding the cancellation. Last time I checked, usually businesses email you back to confirm they received such email. They have several receptionists, and none of them are trained accordingly. Sadly, None of them know whether they’re coming or going. They don’t communicate with one another which makes scheduling difficult. From looking at other reviews on Saloncloud, this happens quite often. At the end of the day, if I’m going to be paying between 150-200 dollars or more for a service, I expect superb service and at the very least, professionalism. They are charging double for all services since the pandemic, which is totally understandable. But they have to at least live up to the price they’re charging. They all need to take a day for training purposes with staff to ensure everyone is on the same page. When I asked for the owner, Maddisen (formally known as Dorell) to give me a call back, she failed to do so, proving to me, she could care less. Hopefully they sit back and look at reviews, learn, accept criticism and do better. They need to seriously come down from the high horse they sit on and realize , “You Are Never Too Big To Fail” hence, their prior salon...
Read moreI would give this salon 2.5 for customer service if it was possible but I'm going to be generous and round up to 3. I'm a relatively new customer beginning services here in November 2021. My first impression was good. My stylist Malika was very professional. She provided a good trim and silk press service. My second visit was Feburary 2022. I was able to see my same stylist who trimmed my hair well and gave me a two strand twist style.
By my 3rd visit was in May 2022 and here is where things begin to change. Eventhough I had a regular appointment with Malika, another stylist had to do my hair. This salon appears to have a philosophy that any stylist can do your hair because they are all trained by shop owners. However, my preference as a customer, is to have the familiarity of the same stylist. I explained to Danielle, that I'm growing out my hair and would like to keep thr same shape that I have. She explained that she would keep the shape but cut less in areas that have more shrinkage. I ended up with a layered cut instead of a trim. The product they used to coil set my hair was subpar for my hair type. My hair began to frizz even before I got home.
My 4th visit was in May 2022. I finally got the courage to let my stylist Malika complete a single process hair color and a full head of highlights The service went well until i got home and noticed that there were several dark spots inside my hair (dark spots meaning under processed hair that did not match the color around the perimeter of hair. The pictures show what the front of my hair looks like comapared the inside which was splotchy. I also included a picture of what my hair looked like before the color service. This is the picture with the straight hair ) I immediately contacted the salon and sent pictures of my hair. They did address the issue immediately and gave me an appointment in a timely manner. Malika did fix the color issue and my hair was styled by another stylist.
My qualm is that the color correction should have came with a complimentary style by the same srylist. While I did not have to pay for the color correction, I was charged to have my hair restyled. Between the two visits I had, that were two days apart, I paid $549 for hair color, hairstyling and tips! I'm not even going to mention gas, tolls and parking fees as this salon is 1 hour away from home.
I decided that I can no longer support a salon who doesn't support its customers. It was very inconsiderate to charge for a restyle considering the color service was not done in a...
Read moreI struggled with whether or not I wanted to write a review but I feel it's important for the owner to understand that some things are just not right and they should consider changing the way they communicate prices. First off, the salon, the people, and the overall energy of the place is awesome. I had been following the black door salon/suite beverly on IG for some time and I was super excited to get my first natural cut and color after having locs for years. We communicated by text before my appointment and I asked about the price, she told me how much the cut and color would be. It was super expensive already (in my opinion) but I was ok with giving it a try. When I was there I discussed my color treatment with my stylist, I told her what I was going for. She then asked do I want color that will blend and look more natural in between visits or color that requires more maintenance. Naturally I said color with low maintenance. That was it, that's all we discussed in regards to the color treatment. She goes on to cut, color, and style my hair. The color was pretty, the cut was ok but I was generally happy with the service. When it was time to pay, the receptionist told me how much the bill was and it was wayy higher than what we discussed before the visit. I asked why and she said "oh your stylist used a certain technique to achieve your color, the balayage technique". So I'm guessing this is the low maintenance technique she offered me without giving me the price details or even mentioning the technique name. It added an additional $124 to my bill! Also, during the wash she asked did I want some type of conditioner and that added another $41 to the bill, no mention of the price when she offered it. I felt swindled. Why not mention the price of the add on color technique you convinced me to get? Why not mention the price of the conditioner service you offered me before doing it? It's bad practice. How do you know I had and extra $165 to pay during my visit? I just feel like they should be more upfront and clear about their prices, especially when it's add on services being offered. It gives off greed, deception, and bad business when you're not upfront about the prices of add on services that YOU'RE offering. It's just plain bad customer service and I don't know how they...
