Magic Fingers Massage Therapy sits in busy downtown Metuchen. Its $40/hour fee was good enough reason to try it but I am in no hurry to return.
The facility is clean and the massage I received was adequate. I would rate Magic Fingers higher and try it again if not for the following:
Noise carries about. Not that I am there for the conversation but I don't want others to hear me and certainly didn't want to hear what people were saying in the hallway and massage rooms.
Magic Fingers assigned me to a woman who identified herself as, I think, Cindy. The massage started out well until another Magic Fingers employee started conversing with Cindy through the doorway. Their Far Eastern language (Chinese, perhaps) was not a tongue of mine, so I don't know what was so important. A beat or two later I turned to see a new therapist in the room, Cindy having left without a word, let alone an explanation. Asking her name, I could not understand what this second girl said.
After the massage, a young woman who seemed to be Magic Fingers mamasan hurried me to the door. Is that their way of saying, "Come back soon?" Between the Guess Who? masseuse switcheroo and, barely half a step out of the massage room, having this gal give me the bum's rush I will not return to Magic Fingers unless I hear of a management change.
It interests me to note that the more attractive I found her, the less friendly each of the three women was. The dumpy, plain girl who massaged me after that false start was warm. Cindy, the slender if a bit weathered-looking lass who bailed out on me without a word, was reserved though smiled a little when I coaxed her. The mamasan who directed me to the exit as though a traffic cop who missed morning donuts at the station was a hot little looker, the kind of girl you hope will be your masseuse at these Asian places though, in this case, she made for an unhappy ending to my Magic...
Read moreThieves My kids got me a gift certificate last Christmas one hour for $40 on 12/22/19 the management said that gift certificates won’t expire. Today 12/19/2020 I decided to go, first they said that their prices went up and the hour price is $45 , I said no problem and gave them the $5 then they said that they can’t accept the gift certificate because it is almost a year, then a manager talked to me over the phone and said this certificate belong to the previous owner( she is lying of course) and the new owner can’t take it. Basically they robbed me in $40. Tried to educate the management over the phone that her decision is bad cause even if she will lose $40 she can still gain a customer but she was so smart to understand basic...
Read moreI called to make an appointment to redeem a Groupon for a 1hr deep tissue massage for $44/person. Lady on phone seemed nice and asked that we pay them directly, and that because taxes would be added, she'd need to raise the price to $45/person. I didn't buy the groupons yet so I told her that wasn't a problem. We both enjoyed our massages, but it wasn't a full hour long, and on top of that, the cashier demanded more of a tip, then complained to the masseuse IN FRONT OF US that we weren't tipping more.Very rude-- won't be going back. Shame, cus it was a decent massage. If they expect a certain amount in tips, they should make that clear ahead of time, or raise the price. Don't guilt customers into...
