March 27-March 31 Disney Magic Cruise Ports of Call: Key West, Bahamas, Castaway Cay This was the first ever cruise for my son and I. Overall we had a good experience. I expected to have have good service, so for me the fact that we did doesn't make this experience exceptional, just the way it should be. We flew in the morning of our cruise and arrived at the Port Terminal around 1:30. It looked like we beat the rush, as going through the Port and Checking in was quick, easy and no lines. I read reviews that said expect to wait..... We appeared to have missed the lines, perhaps by getting there early. I would suggest getting there early if you can. We had the 1pm check in, which was the earliest one available. We got to our room and it was as expected, queen bed with a couch that converted to a twin bed. There was also a curtain that separated the sitting area from the bed. We had a mini fridge too. The first day was Mickeys Sail Away party. Which started around 4:30. They closed the slides down during this time, which was a bummer because my son wanted to ride them and had just changed when they shut them down. They were opened back up after the Party. The pools are tiny. It appeared the first day they were the busiest and had long lines for the slides. But after that it seemed like people were busy doing other activities and it wasn't as crowded. The food is great! There is a food area on deck 9 and you eat as much as you like. My son really liked that he could go get ice cream or a hot dog from the restaurants when he wanted. A nice variety of healthy and not healthy foods. Self serve beverage area with coffee and fountain beverages. You rotate dining for dinner in the sit down restaurants. Breakfast, lunch and snacks can be eaten on deck 9 at Cabanas and Daisys delights. You can also go to your assigned dinner restaurant for breakfast if you choose. You will not starve on the cruise! My son is 9, so the Oceaneers club and lab were perfect for him. I allowed him to check himself in and out, and I got a notification on my cruise phone as well as the DCL app every time he did either. He had a lot of fun in the oceaneer club and lab and was able to find kids to play with. Disney movies in the room on demand First Run or nearly first run movies in the movie theaters. Dumbo which came out on the 29th was shown. Captain Marvel was also showing. We did excursions each day. If I had to do it again, I don't think I would. I was trying to get the most out of the cruise and our destinations, but that wasn't necessary. Plenty to do without them. Our first excursion was cancelled in Key west due to winds, it was the catamaran snorkel. We ended up at Fort Zachary Thomas. The water was great, but the beach was not. I was expecting sand, and it was rocky from broken coral. So I would strongly suggest water shoes of some sort. Keep in mind that if you are expecting sandy beaches in Key West, they are not. The park is a good snorkeling area. We explored the Fort too. Cost was 2.50/ person if you walked or Biked in. Key West itself seemed like it had a lot to see and I would definitely come back and spend some time there exploring. It had that beach town feel. The second stop was the Bahamas. We did the Dolphin Experience and Aquaventure at Atlantis. For the price, I would NOT recommend this. Atlantis was beautiful with lots of swimming options, but there were SOOO many people. Food service was really slow. The dolphin encounter was about 20 minutes, so for me that was not worth the price. I would suggest looking elsewhere if you want to see dolphins. Lots of shops outside the port. The last stop was Castaway Cay. Absolutely beautiful. This probably met my expectations the most. Sandy beaches and clear beautiful water. We did the Banana Boat ride - lots of fun! We also did the stingray experience, totally worth it. This was an hour long. You got to learn about sting rays, feed them and then swim with them. 2 waterslides in the cay and a play area in the water. The cay was...
Read moreWe were on Disney Dream cruise that sailed March 2/2018 to March 5/2018. On the third day 03/04 there was a wind, so they cancelled Castaway island (Disney private island) and we spent that day on the cruise. I really disappointed, the most important point to choose Disney cruise is the stop at Castaway Cay. I strongly expect that the Disney will give some form of concessions to its guests. unfortunately, they didn’t do anything, they didn’t give any indemnity or concessions.
It was so sad, disappointing we are students we hardly find time and money to go this trip. we have never been on any Disney cruise before. We spent so much money on flights from Philadelphia PA to Orlando FL, we rent a car to go to Port Canaveral.
That day I talked with Guest Services when we were on the cruise but they told that no concessions will make to the passengers. After we back from the cruise, I sent an email asking them for compensation, but they didn't respond until today, I never hear back from them In addition, I forgot an expensive important item on stateroom, I called them every day asking if they find it. each time they respond with the same response " Unfortunately, nothing matching the description of the item has been turned in. When the Dream returns, we will take another look and should anything matching the description turn up, we will let you know", and surprisingly they never get back to me.
The first two days we were so happy and thinking to repeat the same experience with our friend and family and recommend it to them. But now, we will never ever do any Disney vacations again. And when my school's professors and classmates asked me, I dod not recommend it to them and I told them my...
