Good stock of supplies, with a range of different medium, expensive but decent sales as well. I just feel like the service that I received was lacking and borderline rude. Especially since we as consumers have a tendency to shop small for better and more knowledgeable service and pay a more premium price. I don’t know if the person I worked with was bigoted or tired, but I left the store feeling offended and irritated. My experience just wasn’t pleasant at all; simply because I asked a simple request.
So… After about 5 minutes of staring at charts on the wall to find the price of the 4 oz Golden fluid acrylic paint bottle I had in my hand, I went to the counter and asked what was the price. Instead of scanning it and letting us go about our day or even just letting me know what the price was and maybe saying hey there are charts on the wall… we can help you look at the charts if you need, I was met with “you are reading the chart wrong, it’s not by color.” I tell them I know how to read charts by brand, size, and series etc, and possibly the sign that I needed fell down.” They gave me an angry look and finally scan the bottle after that interaction; clearly they didn’t want to be bothered with me as a customer. A few moments later while looking for more paint, the attendant is in the aisle looking at the charts that I mentioned. I try to make the interaction friendlier, and point to the charts for Golden Fluid Acrylic at 12 oz and 8 oz, and we searched for the 4 oz chart with no success. At that point their face shows me that they understand, but moments later they say “see it’s this one,” and point to a sign that is for Golden gesso, medium, and something else at 12 oz… and follows with “it’s because it’s not on 25% sale anymore, that’s why.”
I just feel like there is something’s to be learned from the whole interaction. It’s not asking to go above and beyond to check the price on something. It also doesn’t hurt to not make the assumption that I’m looking at the charts by color, which makes zero sense cause that would be a chart the size...
Read moreI’m sorry to say this store has lost my business. Last weekend, I attended an event at the store designed to promote some new paints they had in stock. While there, the instructor spilled paint on my clothes, ruining them. I asked for reimbursement or store credit to cover the cost of replacing the clothes but was refused by staff. For context, I spent $250 at this store in the last month alone. The amount I requested to be reimbursed was less than 1/5 of what I'd spent. No apology was offered and the manager would not even speak with me that day. (I stopped by in-person yesterday to try one more time, however the manager was out.) As a result, I feel like individual customers don't matter here. It's a pity. I was really excited to have an art store located so close to me. But why should I continue to support a local business that doesn't support me? Although it's further away, I'll return to the Artist & Craftsman Supply in Little Havana where I know I'm a...
Read moreThis was my first time stopping by this art supply store yesterday. Ivan was the one that help me. He was wonderful. One of the one4all coloring pen ink was running. The next day I took it back to exchange it and the lady that helped me said that the pen was fine. I could see that she clearly didn’t want to help me. She sat the pen on the counter and told this young lady by the name of Isabel to help me. Isabel was wonderful. She help me pick out a couple more colors. When I was leaving the lady that first help me didn’t want to look at me or say goodbye. So I said good bye to her and she did acknowledge but had a hard time looking at me. I believe she thought I was trying to get something for free or maybe she have a problem with...
