Quantum of the seas should be called “scam of the seas “ !!
Transpacific itinerary actually means you pay for the crossing to get from the USA to Australia like a “slow boat to China” not stopping in any ports for 7 nights made us want to get off as quick as possible as there was so many activities that were listed prior to boarding that were actually not available as they were all “under maintenance “ including activities that were upsold to us when we boarded with crew knowing the facilities were not actually accessible because of the maintenance issues !!!
Upsold unlimited sauna package for 2 people at $235 USD that actually wasn’t available from day 1. Sally the manager of the day spa (who we were told that they were not part of Royal Caribbean) told us that she had told her staff to tell all passengers that the sauna was not functioning!! While we were told by 4 different staff 4 different stories !! All of which were completely different to what Sally the manager was telling us !
The list goes on …
Millicent Cooks, the front desk manager while originally being very apologetic was not interested in keeping guest satisfaction as a goal but more of a “it’s not part of Royal Caribbean” (the vitality spa) so she could not do anything about it !
Firstly, if a ship contracts a concessionary 3rd party to provide a service of course Royal Caribbean are in control of what they can and can’t do.
Secondly, at no time were any of the staff willing to say other “I’m sorry “ but would you like to try a different experience on our ship to appease us and try turn our 1st experience on Royal Caribbean from bad to good not bad to worse but this was most definitely the case !!
Timothy De Leon Senior Guest Services Officer was even worse !! He knew of our situation and when we told him we wanted to get off the cruise at the next port (which was the 1st port we stopped at) he became nonchalant and couldn’t wait to see the back of us. This could have been because we are non alcoholic drinkers so we were not adding to their extravagant 18% gratuities (which by the way are already paid when booking the cruise, so word or warning ask for the “gratuities to be taken off all your bills as they are NOT obligatory)
Then came the fitness centre where I was upsold unlimited classes like yoga (which would have been good as I just had major back surgery thus booking this cruise to recuperate) however Gabin. One of the two personal trainers took the 1st yoga class and while I tried to get his attention to let him know that I had just had decompression surgery 3 weeks prior his response was “don’t worry this class is easy “ as he was quickly walking past me. Needless to say, I got a refund for this unlimited class package as I was not in the game of making my back worse than when I boarded the cruise.
The whole time we were on the 17 night transpacific cruise we were hounded by crew to be upsold everything from alcohol (which we don’t drink) to overpriced trinkets that were 300% marked up.
A giant Westfield on the of the seas.
This could have been avoided if the crew were a least bit interested in the satisfaction of the customers but this seems to be a cruise ship that took passengers on for the sake of having to get the ship to Australia for maintenance for the Australian season !!
Not only that but when I called Royal Caribbean after our cruise the response I received was “ you got off on your own accord therefore we won’t be offering you any discount in any future cruises with us !
I wonder, is this because we found the total experience unworthy of our over $5000 cabin of which seemed like had never been cleaned properly for months as we had found as I had to make my own sofa bed and whilst doing this I found underneath not only rubbish but money !
Scam of the seas will forever stay in our minds to make sure none of our friends will never ever experience this companies lack of customer satisfaction
It is more like “let’s see how many suckers...
Read moreWorst experience cruising with the security group of this ship "Quantum of the Seas" . After waiting and following up on one of our luggage we were told to check with security at the 2nd floor. initially it was me and my husband who went to check for the missing luggage. Unfortunately they told us to look for it ourselves and come back again once all the luggages arrived from the port. So we waited and agaiin went back to see if the luggage arrived as we have left the port by then.No luggage and they told me to wait again. probably after hours passed I went back again. This time the security group under Homer said check with Guest relations which I did. Talked to The asst. Manager Arum I believe who said we need to wait until 8 pm. was Surprsied that there were no set protocols. my husband decided to ask her himself and again failed to receive any information on what protocols are inplace so he decided to go again to the security holding area for luggages with issues or illegal items inside. My husband who is handicapped had a heated arugument with one officer who asked us if we are from a particular race. I said yes but we are Americans. Hegot up and started saying we are racist and that we are descriminating him. Labeling us racist when from the looks of it we come from the same race is beyond my understanding. It seems Royal Caribbean needs retraining of their crews especially because we paid and hoped for a great time on this particular cruise. The luggage was finally found by another steward at the other side of the ship and we realized that the chances of finding it would be very difficult if the passenger was not pro active. The ship has no set procedures on how to find missing luggages and instead was trying to shift the problem to us by asking how we processed...
Read moreJust arrived back to United States in beautiful Honolulu, Hawaii ( check my pictures!) after a spectacular 21 day cruise from Sydney, Australia. The service was most excellent in every department I cannot thank the staff enough for caring and sharing such positive attitude and services. There are inspiring messages all through our the ship that always made me feel so positive and uplifted ( a brilliant idea whoever thought to post these messages!) I was always so grateful to staff and other travelers all just wanting a good time!! I have been on around 10 cruises now and this cruise was definitely the most memorable and most inspiring and I was even able to indulge but not gain weight. I need to give shout out to spectacular spa team especially management Lealani from South Africa and my favorite masseuse " Marycel" and Lulun, and the BEST accupuncture Dr. Chen helped my husband and I together with 3 treatments each!! Also the fitness center with most excellent trainers... They both gave BEST advice and demonstration ever to maintaining healthy lifestyle and training especially reviewing the biometrics of the BMI, & cellular mechanics etc. Another favorite and hard working staff is in the Bistro and the 270 cafe always fresh and no lines!! Overall we could tell RCL doing it right on this ship with excellent management all the way from a superior well loved and highly trained captain to the smallest details. Only been off the ship for 2 hours and already looking to book another cruise with RCL especially with some of our favorites on Quantum of the Seas number one!! Aloha and MAHALO all the...
