Struck out twice in 2 days with JC Penney. Last night I was in the Men's suit dept to buy a suit in the Quakerbridge Mall store in NJ. Could not get any help or accurate pricing information, They did not have one suit that had the sizes of a jacket and pants that would fit me. I am not in sizes that would be out of the normal range. I could not get any help and was in the store for 1.5 hours. Tonight I was in the Oxford Valley store and finally found a suit that would fit from the Michael Strahan Collection. Of course, my coupon from last night is no longer good and I could not find a way to check out the prices as things are not very clear and the dept is a jumbled mess (I do not know why as there were very few customers in the store). I went to check out and waited in line for 20 minutes when there was only one person ahead of me. The lady running the register was new and no one was available to help her and the customer in front of me walked away to go find someone and the lady at the register just stood there and would not move on. I finally just put the suit back and left. I called the manager to advise of this while on my way home and his answer is "we are short handed". I said it is Christmas time and not even busy and you cant ring people up who want to purchase. He said "what do you want me to say" . I stated that things like this put companies in trouble as it is already well known that Penneys is in trouble. He asked me if I was done yet. I said no and ended the call. I spoke with a Tyler who claimed to be the store manager. I give up on this company. They can advertise all they want but they are not merchandised with the product correctly and worse yet, they cannot take peoples money. Ok Penneys, just close up like Sears. You are a worthless retailer at this point. Waive the white flag and stop pretending to be a retailer.
Ohhh, by the way, They have taken all of the price checkers out of the stores so that you have to rely on people working the registers. I guess we know how that works out for...
Read moreOrdinarly I would give this store 4 stars because I'm not thrilled with the layout of the store... the floor plan is a bit crowded, but selection is decent. It's getting 5 stars because I personally know how hard it is to work retail. I don't work for this company, nor have I in the past: I'm not some moron hired by corporate to write this. Ive got better things to do on a holiday weekend, but couldn't help myself after reading some of the reviews. Granted the staff in any department store isn't perfect and occasionally make mistakes.. and no, they might not be smiling every second they are on the floor, but they work hard to keep the store organized and deal with customers (both pleasant and obnoxious) on every shift. For all you "well it's not rocket science" perfectionists who diss sales associates, why don't you put yourselves in their shoes for a day and see how hard it is to deal with face-to-face customer service, especially during large sales events? Customer service is not an easy job, and many of the associates are there to pay day-to-day bills and higher education costs to create a better life for their families. Here are a few tips when shopping to move things along: before you get on the checkout line, look the items over to make sure they all have price tags for scanning - if not, go get one that does - even if it's not the same size and color, it has a code that the cashier can use to scan it, and you don't have to return it to the rack. Also, while standing on line, take the clothes you plan to purchase off the hangers before you get to the counter (drape them over your arm or over the side of the cart). Check them for those hard plastic security tags and let the cashier know about them when you get to the counter. Lastly, if you have coupons, get them ready to hand the cashier, versus the rest of us waiting for you to dig through your...
Read moreI've been going to this location for over 20 years, but it just doesn't do it for me anymore. They are hit or miss it seems. Some trips I find cute kids clothes and shoes, other times I leave empty handed. Not a big selection on young girls clothing. And every single time I leave the store, their sensors at the front door goes off. They tell me at the register that the alarm might go off when we exit due to sensor tags on select merchandise. Why can't they remove the part of the tag that has the sensor at time of purchase to avoid all that? It was sunglasses this time. But I hate that. People look at me and my 2 kids like we did something wrong when the door alarms start beeping. Meanwhile the workers don't even glance up and look our way. Defeats the purpose of even having them, don't it? Then I sit there by the exit and check all my purchases to make sure the ink tag wasn't left on any clothes since the alarm went off. I don't want to just assume it's the sunglasses because I've made that mistake the 1st time and had to bring a sweater back that still had the ink tag on it but I was told to keep going cuz they thought it was a purse I also purchased. Just very annoying. Remove any sensors at time of purchase and that can all be avoided. I don't understand why it's so...
