We arrived at noon and the staff allowed us to check in early. We went to our room and my daughter hopped on one of the beds right away. I went to change her clothes and noticed multiple, small, red stains on the comforter. I quickly took my 3-year-old daughter off of the bed and was shocked. I started to look around the bedding a bit more after this and noticed huge stains on the bed skirt that appeared grease-like. My husband then looked at the other queen sized bed in the room and we were disgusted. There were small black curly hairs on the bed. I'm sure you can imagine our horror. I called the front desk right away and spoke with a woman named Sue, who was very apologetic. She offered to change the bedding and sent someone up to the room.
Around 6:30pm we came back to the room from Sesame Place and the bedding was clean, but our room had another issue, ladybugs. They were crawling all over the ceiling and by the air conditioning unit.
Later that evening, we decided to order some room service. We looked over the menu and tried to place an order for two cappuccinos, a slice of red velvet, and two bowls of vanilla ice cream. We were told that there weren't any cappuccinos, so I asked for two lattes only to be told there weren't any lattes either and I could have a cup of coffee, which I reluctantly agreed to. A few seconds later we received a call in the room informing us that there wasn't any red velvet cake either. Ok, not a big deal, and we ordered a slice of chocolate thunder instead. Very shortly after our room service arrived, and our coffee was forgotten. Are you sensing the tone of the stay yet?
We went to sleep, hoping to not inhale any of the many ladybugs in the room, awoke the next morning and decided to have breakfast in the hotel. We waited 35 minutes to be seated, and the dining room was far from full. The man who seemed to be in charge of the dining room was extremely slow at seating the families, there was no sense of urgency even when the line was extending into the lobby. When we were finally seated I noticed a long black hair in the milk on the table. I looked at my husband and we were just done. I was afraid to eat because the level of cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The server took the milk, brought a new one and never once apologized. It was like this was a common occurrence.
The mirrors in the hallways and elevator were filthy, there was a beer bottle on the table by the elevator the entire time we were there. Aside from this being a housekeeping issue, there were many children staying at the hotel. It's scary to think what could have happened if a child took a sip, or if it broke and cut someone.
I do not think the staff was up to the challenge of so many families and children being there, which is disheartening since a children's amusement park is across the road.
When we checked out we let the manager at the front desk know some of the issues we had and he took $50 off of our bill.
We have a free pass to Sesame Place that is valid until the end of the year and even though we would be driving at least 3 hours, I think staying the night is not an option for us.
I received an email after our stay asking to complete a survey, which I did. Shortly after, I received an email from the GM apologizing and saying he would personally look after us during our next stay. Next stay?! How presumptuous to think I would bring my family back. He stated the hotel was being revamped in November, which is great because this...
Read moreFirst, the good: the hotel is really shiny and beautiful. The room was very nicely decorated and comfortable, pretty clean, except for the dusty headboards, but that's really nitpicking, it really was otherwise very clean and impressive. Other reviewers complained of dirty carpets or dirty linens, but we had no such experience. It's walking distance to Sesame Place, but there's also a shuttle if you can't or won't walk it. There's plenty of food within walking distance. Desk staff is generally friendly. Free cookies and citrus water in the lobby. Decent soundproofing. Now the bad: there's a mini-fridge in the room, which is great, but beware, it'll probably freeze solid anything you put in there. Room service is over-priced, which isn't unusual, but there's plenty of food nearby, so it's not too big of a deal. When we arrived at the hotel, only two of the three elevators were working. By the time we left, they were down to one...not the end of the world, but an inconvenience nonetheless, especially if you happen to be carrying all your bags and an infant. There's an indoor pool that we were REALLY looking forward to, but sorely disappointed in. It was a huge factor in choosing this hotel. I'd stay further away for a better pool. It's small; the water is salty, which means the water isn't being refreshed often enough, so there's a buildup of human bodily fluids and/or cleaning chemicals (very hard not to be grossed out); you're not allowed to take the towels up to your room, so you're dripping wet and freezing your way upstairs, through the air conditioned hotel; the door to the patio area was left open, which kind of defeats the purpose of an indoor pool, so there was a breeze and my baby ended up with blue lips, even though it's July and the pool is heated. When my husband went to close the door, he was questioned by a somewhat cranky, older lady, who didn't want him to close it, but finally begrudgingly relented. But the worst part about the pool... at about 6:30 pm, the aforementioned not-so-friendly lady, who turned out to be a hotel employee, informed us that one end of the pool would be off-limits for water aerobics. She then turned on some loud, terrible, headache-inducing music (the Love Boat theme?!) so that just THREE senior ladies, who were really more interested in chatting than doing exercise and seemed annoyed by the presence of other people in the pool, could dominate literally HALF the pool. Within 20 minutes, the 6 or so families who had been enjoying the pool with their kids, gave up and cleared out. I don't mean to sound like a jerk, I'm no spring chicken, myself, but the location of this hotel is clearly intended to cater to the Sesame Place crowd, i.e. families with little kids, so it seems like it would make more sense to have a water aerobics class for seniors earlier in the day, when families are more likely to be at Sesame Place, instead of right around the time families are returning from Sesame and likely to be going to the pool. Overall, it would have been a much better stay if the pool hadn't been such a huge selling point for us and thusly, such a huge let-down. Otherwise, the hotel is very polished and pretty. You definitely can't complain about the location if you're headed to Sesame Place, though. If you weren't planning on using the pool, I'd...
Read moreMy father-in-law passed away and left us looking for a hotel for 6 nights since we live out of state. I picked the Sheraton of Bucks County because I always heard that Sheraton's are a nice class of hotel, I couldn't have been more disappointed. Upon our arrival the first thing i experienced was two maids chatting about fellow employees, and not very nice things where said. After checking in and loading a cart with our luggage those same two maids cut in front of us for the elevator and left us standing there as there wasn't enough room for all of us and both our carts. We had just drove 5 hours after finding out my husbands dad had died, we were exhausted and grieving and that was just so unprofessional and plain rude. The next day we went to leave to plan the funeral to find out only 1 elevator was working. We were on the 10th floor and every time the elevator would open it was jammed full of people with strollers. After waiting 45 minutes for an elevator we realized we where going to have to take 10 flights of stairs. I have bad knees and breathing issues, by the time i got to the bottom I was having an asthma attack and both knees where throbbing. After spending the day making arrangements to bury our father we come back to our room (using the elevator thank god!) only to find the maid never bothered to clean it. No clean towels, bed wasn't made, no toilet paper and we where just plain exhausted and frustrated. After calling down to the front desk we where told someone would be right up to take care of the room. 30 minutes later a man showed up came in and while making the bed proceeded to complain how this "wasn't his job and he was going to complain to his manager that the maids need to do their jobs." He made the bed, left a stack of towels on the bathroom sink and left saying "next time ask the maid or front desk to clean your room before you leave". After all that he never brought us toilet paper, again leaving us to call down to the front desk. The bathroom was very tiny and not what was pictured on the website. The day of the funeral both elevators were working but only two out of three. It took us 20 minutes to be able to get in an elevator and then we literally had to stop at every single floor to groups of people waiting to get in. We decided it would be fastest and easiest for us to have breakfast at the buffet. They ran out of clean plates and no more where brought out the entire time we where there. Our waiter never asked us for drinks, and when the cook came out to see what was needed on the buffet saw me looking for a waiter and got the drinks himself. After we where done we waited 10 minutes for the check before i had to flag our waiter down for it. The entire stay the maids never once dusted our room and by the end of our 6 day stay I could write words in the dust it was so thick. We where already visiting PA for a stressful reason, and this hotel just added to that. Having to use 10 flights of stairs, no maid service and being made to feel like we where the bad guys because an employee had to do someone else's job, being disrespected and treated like we where an inconvenience all while trying to plan a funeral and mourn the passing of our dad. It was just shameful and disappointing. I will never stay at...
