Planet Fitness — Local services in Middletown

Manager was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I recently just moved back to RI after living out of state for almost a year. I have a black card and was meeting a friend who goes to this location. For whatever reason my membership stated “access denied” (yes I pay my bill). I informed the manager of my situation (bald Caucasian guy) and he told me that I need to call my old location.... okay... even though they have a phone and computer system in front of them. I awkwardly went off to the side and called the location while the manager and the rest of the employees (about 3 women) watched and was provided with my account information by a nice gentleman on the phone. He said that it could be due to a different computer system, as this Middletown location just opened up and is new, and that they should call that location if they have any issues (aka what should’ve occcured in the first place). I went back over with the paper I had written down the info on and immediately the same guy says in a rude tone “what is that...”. I explained to him what the other location told me and his reply was “they obviously don’t know what they are talking about/how to answer your question”. First off- this location is brand new, secondly, what kind of employee bashes/blames other employees to its customers like that.... super uncomfortable at that point. By then my friend arrived and the manager provided ZERO resolution. It seemed like he was insinuating that my bill was not paid and stated that “it would resolve itself”..... WHAT. At that point I was over it and had my friend check me in as her guest. While we walked away she immediately stated how rude he was. I had a sour feeling during my entire workout and it’s quite sad that this guy is a manager. As someone who has worked multiple jobs requiring good customer service skills, this guy absolutely failed at his job. Thanks...

I have visited many PF’s since joining the club 8 years ago. Most recently I had the opportunity and the pleasure to visit PF in Middleton RI.

1st and most important to me as a long time member, is the club clean, is the staff friendly, is the atmosphere positive, conducive to working out???

The answer to all of these questions is YES!!!

They keep this club in immaculate condition, I tip my cap to the club manager Najae (a great team leader). She has assembled and trained one fantastic team of people that make members like myself who go there feel warm and welcomed and sincerely appreciated.

They do one thing for certain, adhere to ALL rules. This is where most clubs drop the ball, and this club shines bright. Telephone conversations on the gym floor are prohibited. One member was working out while conversing over the phone speaker which honestly was bothersome and short lived. In 2/3 minutes a staff member abruptly put an end to this nuisance. I applauded Brittany for her firm and swift response to end this annoyance. Zoe, John, and the rest of the PF staff are one of the best teams on the Planet Fitness roster.

I highly recommend you join them if you want a club that meets and exceeds expectations of a good club, I would call this a great club in all facets of its operation. Many thanks and kudos for making my visit...

First of all, let me say that this is the cleanest Planet Fitness location that I have ever been to. Most previous locations I've been to have been in Brooklyn but whatever the case may be this is the cleanest. This spot is fairly new so let's hope they keep on top of it.

They get a star for convenience and accessibility. It seems like there is a shortage of gyms on this island. Why they (or another major chain) has not opened shop here previously is beyond me.

For the price, they can not be beaten. The plan I grabbed (speak more on this below) is only 20 bucks a month. This includes access to this location and any other, use of massage chairs, beds, tanning, and unlimited guest passes. They always seem to have specials going on for new sign-ups such as 1.00 down and 10 bucks a month or similar.

Another star would be for a large amount of equipment. The free weights may be limited and do not go very high in weight so for the heavy lifters not familiar with Planet Fitness I would say you may want to seek another location but it is so cheap that you may as well grab a membership for light...
