Miantonomi Memorial Park — Local services in Newport

I like the park. There's a playgroup held there every Tuesday from 10am-1130am (open to all) when the weather is nice. The only problem is there's alot of trash left around the play ground. There's trash cans near the front of the park but none near the play ground. The other issue is that the slides are not in any kind of shade so they are Extremely Hot! Lastly, on July 9th they were cutting the grass and the guy driving the tractor came right next to where the little ones were playing! Adults were with them but it was totally unacceptable! He had the whole other side of the park to mow until it was safer! These kids were under 3yrs old, they could have been seriously hurt! My family and I have been coming here for over 25yrs! We've had many celebrations here, birthday parties, endless cookouts,baby showers and much more! It's a beautiful park well known to the community and it couldn't be in a more perfect part of town. Right in the middle! Lots of history and many paths to walk and explore! I've walked the park with my husband for years and now we do it with our daughters and other family members! This will always be a place we will come to and enjoy ourselves! A place where .my kids grow up. Playing in that park for many years, a long with many other family's. That park has many memories and a lot to remember for years to come.
