Your Closet or Mine Consignment — Local services in Middletown

AVOID THIS PLACE!! This is the consignment shop I usually use for the items that get passed up from other consignment shops. This time I made the mistake of bringing nice things. That should say it all but let me elaborate for you... This is not the first time I have had an issue here. Today I called to retrieve my items. It took them forever to answer the phone and when they did it was "Hello?" Very unprofessional, I almost thought I had called the wrong number. I literally had to ask if I had called the consignment shop. First I asked if I had any items left to which she lied and said no and that I have to bring in more items, and that there was only $4 in my account. That confused me because I had dropped of a free people dress, free people jacket, anthro hoodie and a fiesta ware serving dish among other items... Then she says I still have items left. So I ask if she can pull them and if I can pick them up at the door. Well excuse me she can't because she has to look for them and that's too hard. I used to work in consignment. I know they can very well accommodate and that they are just lazy and don't want to. No accommodation for people with asthma and autoimmune disorders durring Covid. Basically they stole my items. I can't get them back without risking my health. I told her I won't be bringing any more items there and I was hung up on. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! I had to call back to ask another girl to mail me a check and the phone rang for the longest time before anyone picked up. I will only be using Savvy Swap Consignment in Portland from now on because Kerrianne is respectful, mindful of safety and has always pulled her consignor's items for them even before Covid. VERY nice customer service. Always very pleasant. I’m 100% about the giving my business to the small mom and pop shops and will continue to shop there however the store is pretty cluttered, unorganized, dated and in need of a remodel. Fair prices and lots of great sales and discounts going on at all times but was a little disappointed that they didn’t tell me that they were charging me a credit card fee where most merchants pay those fees. I just wish it had just been mentioned to me prior so that I had the opportunity to choose to pay cash on an expensive item. I also wish they had a rewards system for frequent shoppers (a punch card maybe) like other consignment places do. I’m not here to complain because I truly appreciate how they run their business minus a few needed tweaks. Just here to provide insight. This store tried selling me a fake louis vuitton handbag and when i informed them that selling counterfeit items is illegal they told me “as long as we do not advertise it as real, it’s legal.” which is completely incorrect.
