Friendly small business run by a husband and wife (and a small service dog âşď¸). I went in with an old brass knocker that'd been in my husband's family for three decades. The engraving on it was barely legible and I thought the original etching would need ground down and re-engraved. My husband had tried to polish it himself, and while the brass was less dirty, it was still hard to read and the metal was still dull.
I thought a re-engraving would be costly and that I'd have to drop it off to be worked on. But they were able to simply polish the knocker with a couple tools and chemicals while I was there. It only took 15 minutes and $25.
I wish I'd taken a before photo, but here's the final result. It's actually SHINY now and you can READ the fine line engraving without being 6 inches from it.
For upkeep, they recommended NEVRDULL once a year to remove tarnish. The husband had used it in the military service for brass items. Itâs supposed to be âOhioâ related laser prints and trinkets. There werenât really any Ohio related things (buckeye laser prints, cardinals, etc).
Instead they had a whole bunch of unrelated Blue Lives Matter and Red Lives Matter paraphernalia⌠I was pretty uncomfortable in the store due to the owner(?) in the back giving me a stare downâŚ.
