I have been to this hospital twice in the ER and they were sooo kind to me unlike some of their other locations such as Franklin. Theyre so judgemental and will make your life hell there if admitted. The 76th street just doesn't care period. My dad died at the racine location. The doctors and ALL of the staff whether it was labs, nurses, x-rays, respiratory, anything at THIS SPECIFIC LOCATION were soooo nice, caring, understanding, Respectful. I dont feel judged. I wont go to any other hospital but this one from this point forward. After what happened today now i am questioning that. Not sure what to think after today. I guess security isnt medical anyway so maybe it shouldnt matter. I guess I don't know now after what happened today! Ill tell you what happened though! I was discharged and my boyfriends car broke down on the way to pick me up... so I called transportation that has a MINIMUM 2 hour "will call" time frame. It is that for ANYONE **** at ANYTIME ON ANYDAY ***DOESNT MATTER WHO YOU ARE NOW add a snow storm on top of that....!!!!!! i wasn't causing any problems... yes I went in and out of the door several times to set up a ride and check on my ride because I didn't get reception inside.... the receptionist offered to pay for my ride home which was so sweet it braught tears to my eyes, BUT i needed to pick up my medicine... plus I already had a ride on their way.... which i told her... I live far away so its not like they could magically appear... i dont even live in milwaukee county.... i dont live close to this hospital AT ALL but i go out of my way to go here because i dont like any other hospital i have been to... I laid my head down because i had a horrific headache while I waited SINCE I'M SICK (OR i wouldnt be in the er!!!!!!) I wasnt sleeping! Just trying to cover my eyes from the light and lay my damn head down. Suddenly security was coming towards me and demanded I needed to leave.... they made me feel like I was a homeless BUM trying to stay inside somewhere during a winter storm... thank GOD my ride showed up 1 minutes later since i didn't have a jacket or anything. Yes it was 1 and a half hours but that was out of my control... trust me this was the last place i would want to hang out... any hospital is the last place i want to be. i waited over 2 weeks to even show up here and thats because i literally couldnt BREATHE last night!!!! I dont like hospitals. Period. I was not trying to hang around there. If i wasnt so sick and wasn't a winter storm i would have been ON MY WAY!!!!! Walking around town until transport showed up. They should be more understanding and KNOW that medical transportation is a minimum 2 hour wait. LIKE I wanted to be there that long 🙄 i would have taken an uber home myself if i hadnt just been laid off work. I would have accepted her offer on the ride if I didn't need to pick up medications and didn't already have a ride in route coming to get me... to take me to the pharmacy and home... I really like this hospital (the medical staff 5+ Stars) ... security-10000000. I wasn't doing anything wrong or bothering anyone. Just sitting there trying to deal with my illness and WAIT for my ride. I even sat in the back away from everyone... Instead I'm forced to leave SICK in the middle of a snow storm... no jacket, hat, gloves... for God knows how long since ONCE AGAIN MEDICAL TRANSPORT IS A MINIMUM TWO HOUR WILL CALL WAIT!!!! HOW do they NOT know this? Or did they?????? Thank God my ride was pulling up as they were kicking me out the door!!!!! So if you have any kind of state aid, state transportation, funded transportation, veyo, mtm, anything like that where you have the minimum 2 hour wait time think twice I guess. They won't verify your ride until you're officially discharged... then setting up the appointment takes Forever, then the 2 hour wait time... so keep in mind they might boot you out the door while you were doing...
Read morePlease do not go to this hospital. Not only did my mother receive horrible care but the way our family was treated was unacceptable. Here is the story. My mom went to the ER with chest pains and not being able to walk. (a few other issues as well) After her care there they said she needed to be admitted which took hours to get her a room. (This was a Tuesday by the way) That day she had an echo test done on her heart. They said they saw some leaking going on around the heart. Wanted to do more tests. THREE days later they finally did a stress test on her. They did it in the morning and they told her they saw "something" and she would have to stay the weekend. Nobody told her what it was. Then one of the nurses told my mom that the doctor refused to come in on a Saturday, which is why the real reason she had to stay and pay for the extra days there. The last time I checked....aren't hospitals going 24x7? What happened to good patient care? Oh and another excuse they gave her that she had to stay was because she had an IV...which really? She didn't need it. Finally, Monday morning they do another test and then she sat for over 4 hours...still no news. Doctors were no where to be found...even after numerous requests. My sister finally had enough and called to talk to someone...which who knows who this person was because she sounded like she was talking straight out of a book. My sister never really got a straight answer out of this person. Then that afternoon they finally release her but here is the kicker. NO DOCTOR EVER CAME AND TALKED TO MY MOM! No real diagnosis. However they did give her a water pill prescription. After all of this the doctor had the nerve to tell the nurse to have my mom that she needs to schedule a follow-up apt with this doctor. Maybe if he took the time to actually discuss things with her instead of blowing her off constantly. Why would someone want to come back and see any of these doctors? After my mom got home and relaxed for a bit...she finally sat down and went over her discharge paperwork. In the paperwork she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure! Holy cats batman....this is something very serious and should be discussed with the patient/family members. A patient shouldn't have to read it on their discharge papers.
A few other things outside her care that I noticed about this hospital. There are no maps on the wall to tell you where to go, no staff at a desk to help you, my stepdad was kicked out of her room and told to put a gown on (was not nice about it and never told him why he needed the gown), menu - every patient gets the same damn thing...when you are sick....unless you have a limited diet...you should be able to order what you want. Feeding your body is one way of healing. Plus having the same thing for breakfast 4 days in a row? Come on. Also, we puts together for beverages...ice tea, grape juice and milk?
Asension is taking over these hospitals and they are not doing a good job. The are going down hill.
A hospital is place that you should feel well cared for, safe, etc. This place lost that mark.
Shame on this place....I WILL NEVER GO THERE NOR WILL I RECOMMEND...
Read moreThis would be -5 stars but I can't leave a review without at least 1... In 2018 my mother fell ill and was seen through emergency room. We were told she was to be admitted later on that day. My brother who originally went in with my mom kept calling me repeatedly, saying the ER doctor gave mom prescriptions and wants to know when we can get them from the pharmacy, so he can assist and direct her on how to take them. That happened 3 times! I finally got dressed and drove over to St. Francis pharmacy. My mother didn't have medical insurance so I paid cash for her medicine, and walked from pharmacy over to the ER. The doctor was in with my mom, who was completely out of it from non-sleep and severe pain.
I handed the prescription bag over to the doctor who then said, he would cut her medicine in half for easier dosing. His back was turned, and I didn't think anything about it honestly. Originally I felt how sweet of him to do that for her....... Until the next day when she was discharged and actually had to take some of the medicine she was prescribed, and 20 of her pain pills were gone!! When you counted the half pieces they equaled out to what the count was suppose to be, but when placed together she was 20 short. I called the hospital repeatedly for the next two weeks, and even went there twice to confront the doctor who I know took advantage!!! After it all happened I thought, why in the hell would a ER doctor write prescriptions for a patient who's being admitted?. Why repeatedly pester my brother to go get them from the pharmacy? To show her how to take them? Then to physically HIMSELF cut her pills in half for her when the prescription was written to take 1 tablet every 4-6 hours for pain.
I was told that the doctor wasn't there. He was a doctor that was filling in for another doctor. Nothing was done about it, and he never was confronted. This is just 1 of the many horrible experiences I or a family member have experienced at that Hellspital! Go anywhere but...
