DO NOT GO TO CPR Laguna Niguel for ANY repair of a COMPUTER!!! I first went to CPR Cell Phone Repair in Laguna Niguel several years back when my laptop HDD crashed. The personnel there at that time was superbly competent and professional in recovering my data and setting me up with a new solid state hard drive. I was elated to have such a competent, professional computer repair service so close to home. Fast forward to June 2023, I was hit with a virus while searching on the web as rather innocuous topic. I took my laptop and backup drive to CPR and was met by an individual who was not there during my first visit and was apparently the manager. After a consultation as to the repairs, I requested also to purchase a larger SSD. This "manager" suggested that I subscribe to Emsisoft anti-malware - anti-virus software for $79.00/year. This individual stated to me THREE times that Emsisoft has a firewall. Stupidly I agreed. I waited nearly TWO WEEKS for the return of my repaired laptop, which required my phoning to find out what was the hold up and when I came in as told on the phone by CPR, my laptop was still not ready. Upon bringing my laptop home and starting Emsisoft, I DID NOT see any indication of a firewall with the software. I contacted Emsisoft technical support who confirmed that their anti-malware - anti-virus software DOES NOT have a firewall. So I immediately deleted this software and installed my preferred anti-malware - anti-virus software. Also, CPR decided rather than use the Windows Restore function to download my files from my external backup drive to the new SSD, which I provided to them with my laptop, they must have simply used copy and paste from the external drive to a folder on the laptop's new internal SSC!! HELLO!!! This resulted in missing files in the pasted folders and the most irritating thing was that the entire UTC filename, with time stamp, appeared for all the filenames. I then deleted all the folders copied by CPR with all the their recovered "files" and used Windows Restore to successfully and properly reload my data files to my new SSD in the same original locations from my external drive. Why would one NOT use Windows Restore function to restore files but instead copy/paste?!?!?! Then, over the next two months, my laptop required an extremely longer amount of time to boot up and then more than10 minutes to shut down. This was NOT NORMAL behavior for a SSD. My final analysis, I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO CPR Laguna Niguel for any computer repair. A for cellular phone or game station repair , I have no opinion. But the present employees should NEVEREVER be allowed near...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would not recommend this place for getting repairs to your Macbook. I had spilled coffee on my computer over 6 months ago and everything was working great (thankfully) except the microphone and speakers. So I took it in and explained that I had spilled coffee on it months ago and the only thing that wasn't working was the microphone and the speakers. They ordered the parts to replace that and I paid up front for the parts and the labor costs. When the parts finally arrived I brought my computer in to get fixed and then I got a call that another part would have to be replaced due to water damage - some cable that brings the sound across both speakers. So I gave them the okay to go ahead and order that but they said it would take a week to get in. So I picked up my computer as I wanted to use it until then. One day later I got a call the part was in. Before I brought it back to have the additional part replaced I attempted to use my computer at home and it was not functioning the same. The charging cable was no longer working properly and the computer was functioning extremely slowly and making a loud whirring fan sound. I brought it back to them right after that and told them what I noticed and they said they would replace the additional cable and check it out. Well then I get a call that now there is all this additional water damage that the computer is basically garbage and I should just take the money that I paid in parts and buy a new one from them. I said no thanks I would just like my computer back the way it was before I brought it in and would like my money refunded for the parts. I asked why there is all these new problems when everything was working just fine before I brought it there and was told that when there is water damage opening the computer could make it worse and that is what happened. I said that would have been nice to know before I allowed you to attempt this repair, and was told I did not tell them that when I know for a fact I did tell them the speaker and microphone were not working after spilling coffee on it but everything else was functioning just fine. Well I got my money back from the parts but when I got my computer home, the charging cable is no longer lighting up to show it is charging, the left side USB port is no longer working and was before, and the loud whirring fan sound is still on constantly. I am highly disappointed in the service from here and would recommend you take your business elsewhere before they cause more damage to your devices without any warning that it is a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just got my daughter's Galaxy S10 repaired and returned to me about 1 hour and 25 minutes after filing the claim with Square Trade. The phone was an ebay purchase in open box condition and we paid for a 1 year warranty to cover mechanical and electrical problems that costed $53. With about 6 months left in the Square Trade warranty, the ear speaker stopped working. I immediately contacted Square Trade to start a claim. With a bit of difficulty, the claim was approved and CPR Cell Phone Repair was chosen as the designated repair shop. I immediately took the phone to CPR after speaking to them on the phone. When they examined the phone, they found a small black area on the display and said that the display was damaged and replacement of the screen would also be covered by Square Trade. So I stepped out and made another call to Square Trade to add the screen replacement onto the claim and it was approved after approximately 8 minutes on the phone. I was told by CPR that the repair would take about 2 hours but was called 1 hour after leaving the shop that it was ready for pickup. The guys at CPR are courteous and easy to work with. They definitely know what they're doing and performed the repairs quickly. Highly recommended! Oh, not only did the shop look updated, organized, and professional on the inside, it also...
