Taqueria De Anda-Grill — Restaurant in Mission Viejo

I visited this location for the first time on a Friday night around 9:00 pm. The restaurant was completely empty, and there were two staff members behind the counter. One of them was just standing there, chatting with the other, while the other was preparing an order. I wasn’t acknowledged when I walked in—no greeting, no “I’ll be right with you,” just silence. I waited patiently for the only guy working to get to me. As the employee seemed to be finishing the order (nearly 10 minutes after I got there), a man in uniform, who I believe was a sheriff, walked in. The guy that was actually working immediately asked him, “What can I get you?” completely ignoring me, even though I had been waiting for a while. I’m all for public safety officers getting discounts, but completely overlooking other customers is unacceptable. Feeling disregarded, I left the restaurant. We stumbled upon this family-run Mexican restaurant on Taco Tuesday, and what a treat it turned out to be! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere made it clear this was a true neighborhood gem.

The tacos were exceptional, freshly made, perfectly seasoned, and generously filled. Each variety we tried (carne asada, carnitas, chicken, birria and lengua ( yes they have an amazing lengua option )had its own standout flavor. The homemade salsas and guac were the real deal, most likely was prepared minutes ago.

Not sure about all the rave reviews, but this place was not that good in my opinion. Very production line food...not original or unique. I got a bean and cheese burrito and chips and guacamole to go. The chips were not fresh and tasted like they came from a bag. The guacamole was small...looked nice and green, but was not fresh either....like it came from a container, and it had a vinegar taste - not good? The burrito was not much better. Refried beans from a bag/can...the cheese was ok...but all farily bland food. The employees were friendly and the place was fairly clean & nice, but probably will not go back. Not trying to be mean...just honest about...
