
I joined Kinetix Fitness in Jan 2025 as it was walking distance from my home residence. The gym has friendly staff and a laid-back atmosphere of members looking to come in, work out, and go on with their daily activities. My membership was going great up until a recent unexpected note in August 2025 that the gymās lease had ended and would need to move a location further away. Their initial email notice on August 8th at 325pm CST was clear and transparent, but the follow-up to members was not clear and timely as expected.
I sent a follow up email on September 3rd, 2025, to find out when the new location will be open as we did not get an update since August 8th, 2025. I got a reply on September 6th, 2025, advising that they will not make the September 8th, 2025, target date and it would be extended due to a reassessment review from the fire marshal.
The same day, September 6th, 2025, Kinetix sent a note to all members with the update plus charging September membership. At first, I understood the reasoning for the delay, but I did not agree that Kinetix would charge members for the month of September since the facility is still closed and provided no supplement to members that did not have access to a gym.
After careful consideration, I decided to cancel my membership and request my September charge be refunded/prorated since they charged my account for a facility that is not operable. I am not sure when they will be open, but as of right now the gym is still temporarily closed on November 3rd 2025.
It is unfortunate that the gym had to move and have a temporary closure, but I do not agree with charging memberships in September when the gym is closed. I would have appreciated not charging members accounts till facility is back up and running since they closed at the end of August 2025.
My account has been cancelled, but now I am requesting my September charge be refunded and awaiting a reply. Neal advised on September 19th, 2025, that the request has been submitted and it may take a billing cycle to my account. Another follow up was provided by Neal on October 16th, 2025, to resolve after multiple emails, and still now no refund has been provided.
I am sure I am not the only one that is dealing with these unfortunate issues, but I wanted to share my review/experience to those that may be thinking about joining Kinetix in the future. I do not recommend this gym as there are cheaper and much better options...

They will overcharge your account, charge you even when your membership activation date is a month later, create fake check-in records under your name. The owner is rude and a very impatient guy. He wonāt listen to you when you ask for a refund because you have been charged when you were not even a member. He will not only deny any refund but also blatantly tell you to cancel your membership. The front desk staff is incompetent, and simply puppet script fed answers. No experience. No one will follow up with you because itās āyourā money. Many other good gyms with friendly, competent, and understanding staff and people.
Update: Iām responding to the inaccurate response provided by the very rude and impatient owner who came out, spent less than 5 minutes to understand the whole situation before asking me blatantly to get out of the property and threatening to call the cops on me. Less than 5 minutes of judgement and a pure example of intimidation which can also be seen in his response using the racism card. As far as racist comments are concerned, you (owner) should have obtained a full understanding and thought twice before making this accusation that came from his own employee. Iām a brown skin woman myself and what racist comments am I gonna make. Now your third comment about refunding the $23 something dollars. How did that happen? You even told me (potentially in less than 5 mins of your judgment) that āI was wrong, never overcharged, and get out of here and Iām not refunding you a penny.ā Quite an irrational behavior yourself. Apparently, you spent some more time studying your own records which is exactly what I was pointing at that time. Nothing irrational about that. Next time just step out of your anger and aggression and treat the other person / customer as you would like to be treated yourself. I do notice Iām not the first person who has been treated like this at Kinetix over membership and account related issues. People have been charged amounts that canāt be explained (urge the readers to see other reviews) as I was billed some $91 in July 2021 for which I still have no idea and rationale given why. Hopefully Kinetix takes this as a feedback in their stride and begin to track their records more closely and spend some time training their staff to handle customers professionally...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been attending to Kinetix since February of 2021. My impression on this gym overall is great. They do a variety amount of workout equipment, and the facility is quite spacious and clean. In some days, there are moments where the gym can get crowded, mostly in the evening or late night, but not too crowded like the other big-name gyms. However, I really like the fact that there's enough space to spread out and distance from people and several times throughout the day to be able to lift outside of the rush hours. But do expect someone to hog few gym equipment, which is a pet peeve of mine and few others. They do have a boxing ring, but according to the owner they don't allow amateurs into the ring without MMA or boxing experience. They also have numerous of trainers to help you with various fitness goals, and they all seem decent and professional.
Although I don't have their membership, they do accept ,customers with the Active&Direct Fit members so that's a big plus, considering you don't have to deal with their membership policy and their fees(based on the reviews, there may be some discrepancies with their policy, especially with their cancellation).
The gym is great, but it's not perfect. From my experience, I would say you would feel intimated by few gym goers and even few staff because they would give off the vibe that is sometimes very college-y. Also, on few occasions, whenever I asked someone to spot me or help work on my form, the people were very dismissive. The atmosphere is encouraging in terms of focusing on your fitness goals, but not as friendly because some people there are judgmental on others, although we're just focusing on ourselves. Plus, favoritism from the staff is a thing, so be aware of that. The vibe is off sometimes.
Overall my experience with Kinetix is amazing due to the availability of the machines and equipment and its spacious environment. But the only downside would be the vibe - it's not great, but it's not the worst. All in all, a great local gym perfect for both beginners and...
