It's been a few years, probably since covid that I've been here, but I was craving that green "salsa." They weren't very busy, so I was able to park right in front, and we were seated straight away. Our waitress was very timid, and we later discovered she was new because there were a few errors made. She did bring us a second order of fresh hot chips before our first ones were even finished, but then also let my tea get empty before refilling it. The food did take a bit to come out, but everything tasted delicious. We had queso to start, chicken enchiladas double rice, and the taco plate with charro beans and rice. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsas were on point, my only issue was the cheese was too cheesey, but I prefer my queso with more spices/vegetables. The enchiladas and rice were great, and the tacos are massive, not like most Mexican restaurants, where it's a smaller taco or street taco. The charro beans were ok but didn't have enough spice, in my opinion. When I got ready to pay, I noticed the waitress had charged me for 2 taco plates so I had to get her to fix the bill, I then paid online and she came back to the table asking for payment and I said no I paid online already. She then had to go check, and a manager came back to the table. The manager explained that the girl had thought she charged someone else's card to my tab so they deleted my payment but that to ensure I wasn't double charged they would go ahead and not collect a second payment. The manager was very nice, professional, and apologetic, I did ask if the waitress was new she was kind of young and seemed inexperienced, and the manager did say yes. We ended up going towards the kitchen to find the waitress so we could give her a cash tip and just let her know that she did do well for the most part. They also have a self-serve ice cream machine for dessert, and that was delicious as well. I would recommend giving this place a try. It is a little pricey, but the experience is so much better than at most restaurants. You can tell they really care about the customers.

Let me start by saying that Gringos Restaurant consistently delivers an exceptional dining experience that leaves me absolutely delighted. From the moment I step through their doors, I know I'm in for a culinary adventure like no other. The journey begins with their complimentary salsa, a tantalizing taste explosion that sets the stage for what's to come. It's not just good; it's exceptional! When it comes to ordering, I often find myself torn between their mouthwatering options. Whether I opt for their flavorful tortilla soup, with its rich, savory broth and an array of delicious ingredients, or the divine pollo marisco bowl, I'm always met with a symphony of flavors that transport me to culinary heaven. For a lighter lunch option that doesn't compromise on taste, their beef fajita salad is a personal favorite. Pair it with a steaming bowl of soup, and you have the perfect trifecta – soup, tacos, and salad – all harmoniously blended to create a delightful lunch experience that leaves my taste buds singing with joy. The ambiance at Gringos is second to none. The atmosphere exudes warmth and a sense of belonging, making each visit feel like a special occasion. And then there are the drinks – oh, the drinks! I must confess that Gringos' cocktails have a knack for getting me in high spirits. Their sparkling concoctions are so tempting that it's practically impossible for me to stop at just two. It's a delightful dilemma I'm more than willing to embrace! Get the sparklers, they are strong!! The outstanding food, exceptional service, and inviting atmosphere combine to create an experience that's nothing short of extraordinary. Prepare to be dazzled and delighted if you decide to try!

What happened to Gringos? I’ve been going to Gringos since I was kid at the old small building in Pearland. It was the best TexMex around. Period. Now the serving sizes are so small. I’ve never left a Mexican food restaurant still hungry… until now. Tonight we visited the Southwest Freeway location for the first time. The hostess just stated at us with a blank look on their face when we approached the stand. No welcome! No greeting of any sort. We had our two children with us in our party of four and they didn’t give us any kids menus. Our server was Carlos and he was friendly and accommodating. For me, he was the lone bright spot of the experience. My wife loves the Pastor Tacos so she was really excited to come and happy with her food. My chicken fajitas came out looking like they should have been on the kids menu. Even worse, the chicken was chewy and severely over salted. It didn’t taste like normal grilled fajitas. The kitchen failed to send out tortillas or my cold plate. I’ve always considered Gringos to be a staple of the Houston Food Scene. They have the best red and green sauces in the city without question. The chips are cold and stale. They used to be hot and fresh. I worked for Gringos Texas City in High School. Danny Hanks, Jonathan Kim, and Russell Ibarra taught me the importance of obsessing with the details. Reminding us constantly that it wasn’t just dinner, it was an experience! For many people they are celebrating a special occasion or the luxury of eating out could be a privilege. It feels as if those principles have been lost to a mass dining style. It saddens me to say that I think we are done with Gringos for at least a while.

Paid $16 for watered down Margarita.....was supposed to be strongest in the resturaunt....Not so much. Food just ok.

UPDATE:!!!!! Went into Gringos today 7/11/24 and was completely satisfied! My $16 was well worth it! My waiter Michael was kind and patient and very attentive. So much so I had to mention it to manager Mariah! She was very nice, friendly, professional and appreciative of my compliments. Food was pretty good tonight...no complaints.

**I don't think Google will let me put in a new review so I'll add this update. (Kinda long) **UPDATE 3/18/25!!! Went in to Gringos Stafford location. I come here pretty often. This time I was treating a friend after work. I had previously taken this same friend and my sister to Gringos last week for dinner. The meal was great. Food hot and tasty. Waitress Kayla as sweet as she can be. Very attentive and friendly. Even one of the managers Freyda super friendly came several times and laughed and joked with us. When our bill came we noticed that my friend was charged $2.99 extra to substitute a plain green salad and $2.99 for a few Avocado slices. I didn't question the Avocado upcharge but last week we weren't charged for salad because my friend is on a low carb diet and doesn't eat rice or beans. I mentioned this to Kayla and she said that she has to charge...there is no other way to add an upgrade salad. So I reminded her that last week we weren't charged. She apologized and sent a different manager to the table. The manager approached us as though she was eager to help and asked what our issue was. She knew what the issue was because Kayla told her...but I explained our dilemma. She apologized and stated the same thing Kayla said, it has to be put in "the system" as an upgrade and there is nothing she can do. She then offerred to go to her general manager. She returns and and asks me FOR MY RECEIPT from last week. " My general manager says to ask for the receipt, can you show me that you didnt pay that $2.99". I felt humiliated. As if I were lying to save $2.99. I just purchased 2 meals that cost over $70 and a margarita that cost $19.99 but i have to PROVE that I wasn't charged to substitute beans and rice with a small dinner salad. I told her(sorry I didn't get her name) forget it. I was very irritated and made to feel like my loyalty in coming to Gringos several times a week meant NOTHING and my integrity was in question. Being asked to show a receipt. I told the manager to give me my bill and I will pay it. She gave me the bill back and she left. The other manager Frayla came back and really apologized. She sincerely felt bad and offered to remove the $2.99. I thanked her for her kindness and told her i am paying the full amount. I told her, like I mentioned to the other manager, that I will be updating my Google review. I even wrote my screen name on the receipt so they could be sure to see the review. I still tipped Kayla more than 20% because she deserved it. In conclusion, I felt it was a matter of principal and good customer service for a regular, repeat customer. Asking me to prove that I wasn't charged $2.99 when my bill was almost $80 was petty and unnecessary. I won't be back to this Gringos. I love the food here, so perhaps I'll try a...

2 weeks ago it was -mostly- a fine experience for my wife's Birthday dinner - the food was okay and the service was mostly okay, but we didn't receive 1 of the drinks we tried to order 3 times -

This is our normal Gringos ( drive from Rosenberg to this location because we had received great food and the service has always been acceptable ) UNTIL SUNDAY OCTOBER 6TH AROUND 3:30 - when we went back to celebrate my Mother in laws birthday ( wife's mother, who had enjoyed dining out at Gringos just 2 weeks ago as stated earlier)

This time our server (a young woman by the name of Brianna) missed half our order, never repeated the order, after almost an hour brought out half of what we ordered, then when we asked where's the rest she told me this was all we ordered - all 3 people at my table told her no ma'am we had ordered another platter and we had told her planned on splitting the 2 platter order - a Vera Cruz & the Combo El Capitan - with extra tortillas etc.

Once this came to light I immediately tried to give her grace and I began ordering more drinks, well the server disregarded the order for the additional drinks and started arguing with my mother in law - mind you we were there to celebrate that wonderful woman's birthday - and here the server is arguing with her because the server failed to get the order placed correctly in the first place.

We told her to go ahead and just submit the rest of the order, but by the time she finally stopped arguing with us and left the table we really felt that staying and eating anything the young lady had brought already or out after this point was a bad idea.

Asked for a manager - who came out a few minutes later, dropped something at another table, and in passing asked if we needed anything - she did not stop to introduce herself or ask what we needed or why we had requested a manager - she then said "oh I know she missed half your order" in a very dismissive tone with an attitude that she clearly didn't seem to care - I then cut her off and said well its not even about the actual order at this point, and I elaborated on the confrontation that unfolded after the mistake was realized. We informed her we didn't even want to consume what they had already brought, and she immediately grabbed the plate and took it to the kitchen "to box it up for us" - a seemingly nice gesture but at this point we were weirded out yet again as normally the restaurant staff would usually bring you the to go box and you box the food yourself.

If you are brave enough to go to this location you will probably get decent to good food

If you are brave enough to go to this location you will more than likely receive poor to terrible service.

We ended up at Guanajuato's Mexican restaurant in Rosenberg where we proceeded to have a lovely meal with good food and service that was what we would expect in a restaurant.

This is a shame because we have been bringing mother in law to this location for a couple of years now when we do get together for Gringos

Ended up paying for our drinks, as the manager had comped the...
