Very disappointed in this shop's customer service. Stopped in on "Shop Small Saturday" to support local downtown businesses. Purchased a shirt and specifically asked if it was returnable. Didn't want to try it on at that time, as the shop was quite crowded for its small size. I was told that the item was returnable and was given no other details regarding the return policy. Upon returning the item, I was informed that I could only exchange for another item or receive a gift card for credit. The clerk would not return the funds to my credit card. Clerk pointed out that a catd with exchange policy was placed in my bag at time of purchase, however, I did not see this card until I tried to return the item. Young sales clerk was extremely rude and disrespectful. Attempts to contact the owners have been unsuccessful as the business has no telephone and did not reply to their online chat feature. I’ve followed them on Facebook for many years and was so excited to finally visit their store last weekend, on my Birthday. The Mercantile store was very cute and the girl working there was very friendly. However, when we walked over to the clothing boutique, the greeting seemed more “why are you here” rather than friendly and welcoming. I really wanted a sweatshirt I saw on their FB, and a pair of Judy blues.. but truthfully the vibe was incredibly unwelcoming and snooty, so I unfortunately left empty handed. Brown Bag is my absolute favorite place to shop! I love the fact that they carry items that are different than those you find in the chain stores.
