The owner is somewhat overbearing and frightens away paying customers. His fears about carryins at the drive in have been so neurotic that he not only reads a a disclaimer style rules list at the gate, but also cranes his neck to see into your car and look for anything (a soda of instance) for which he can bar you.
On a recent trip my husband and I went in, with little more than a giggle at his speech, to wait for my mother to join us, but she was asked to throw out her mostly empty can of soda. She didn't have a cooler or snacks... just a quarter can of soda. If he had let her in with it she would have inevitably have purchased more soda and snacks, but instead she felt insulted by his overzealous and overbearing behaviour and left.
I understand his intentions: profits at movies theaters are largely drawn from concessions. BUT making your customers feel harassed to the point that they opt of attending and returning will close your gates.
Seriously if have a lack of business there are several things you could do other than harass your customers:
Lower the cost of your supply chain by seeking out more competitive vendors
Increase marketing to high schools and colleges (student nights and attached discounts /coupons)
Creating up-grade combos to encourage multiple item purchases-ex: family feast- 2 pizzas, 4 sodas, large popcorn, 1 candy (then price just slightly under the total of the products individually)
Renovating the menu with lighter fare - make it a dining location outside of the movies, so that showing are full always
pre-sell tickets (perhaps with reserved seating) - there's an app for this....
In general if you lack customers... you CANT make your customers feel like you directly blame them. You have to look for ways to encourage the purchase of your own products (meaning your concessions). Make them better than what they can bring in and they will to eat your food, not to...

Bathrooms are terrible, plumbing out of order, and not to code.
Goetz 1 is a dump. All the Seats are shot, it's too big for the screen size, floors are always sticky and discusting.
Fresh, hot popcorn? Not so much. I have never witnessed their machine make popcorn, or smell like fresh popcorn. It's more like it's dumped from a large bag and warmed up in the machine.
Supervisor Employee's are rude, self centered, argumentative, and don't care about the customer.
I feel sorry for the young ladies serving pop, popcorn, etc. They looked like they're scared to death they'll do something less than perfect, and get aggressively managed by management staff.
As for their ticket prices, they're not a good deal as the place is a dump, and poorly managed. AMC Theaters charge $5 for a matinee, and their theatres are amazing with fresh, onsite Orville Redenbacher popcorn.
Finally, on the fraudulent side, check the ticket prices versus what you are told to pay. They don't add up and somebody is putting extra money in their pockets are they're hiding Income from the IRS (perhaps that's why they only take cash).
Freeport theatres are of the same vintage, but they have been updated and are first class while preserving the...
Read moreSo! Let's get down to it. First time going into this establishment. The building is beautiful and looks great from the outside, step up to the tickets booth and it goes down hill from there.
The woman in the booth stared at me until I walked up, was short with me and it seemed as though she was just miserable to be there.
Go inside towards the concession booth and it looks like a broom closet. The women behind the counter were eager to make people move along far too quickly.
I ordered a med. Dr. Pepper and it was a full cup of ice. They probably hadn't checked the fountain bags because it was very watered down. The popcorn? I would eat microwave popcorn anyway that what they served, and a small bag of m&m's? I pay less at a Gas station.
Walk into the theater room, plenty of seating, the floors were sticky and the room was too warm and muggy/stuffy. The arm rests had no cup holders, not a problem but and inconvenience. The seats themselves? I was practically sitting on a metal bar the whole time, very uncomfortable. The movie was so damn loud. I cringed a few times. By the time we left I had a horrible headache. Sorry but im not...
