My family and I stopped in this area coming back from Iowa, and I first saw three girls: a mom and presumably her two daughters. One of them had- by the looks of it- a latte with foam on top. As a Japanese-American currently residing in Japan and just visiting family for two weeks, I saw this coffee and was immediately drawn to the cafe by its elegance and mystery with its dark paned windows and vintage exterior. My dad and I entered the cafe after long stares of contemplation and were quickly greeted by the cashier. She was very sweet and I cant remember if I ever got her name, but she worked today at around 2PM. I saw the menu facing me as I walked in and carefully decided what I wanted to get, while my dad was reeled in by the cookies and bars on display. As I scanned the menu, naturally, I decided on an item I was familiar with, which was a macchiato. I then approached my dad who was ordering cookies, but I was instantly attracted to the bars that were sitting on the shelves, ready to be picked and served. Specifically, the raspberry tart and lemon bar were two items that were screaming my name. Naturally, it was my duty to fulfill my desires and to order those two fruit sweets. We walked to the cash register to make our payments, but thats when I saw another item that was screaming my name even louder: the cold brew with vanilla bean foam on top. Having been deprived of a Michelin star quality coffee with foam, I had to try this out. I changed my order from the macchiato to the cold brew, and was instructed by the very nice cashier to wait for our order to be prepared. After what seemed like forever, my cold brew was served. The juxtaposing layers of cold brew and foam intimidated my comfort, but only after a few mixes with the complementary straws placed conveniently next to the counter, I was able to achieve my desired coffee color. Finally, it was time to drink the cold brew. Long story short, the cold brew with vanilla foam was the best coffee I have had in my life. The vanilla was perfectly sweet, like eating birthday cake with my friends and family after a long day of fun and laughter. The coffee (though I am not an expert just yet on the subject) was also very refreshing. Now dont get me started on the raspberry tart. My grandmother was the first to have a bite. Again, long story short, it has become my favorite sweet treat of all time. I appreciate very much the ability to combine all flavors to create a harmoniously flavorful tart, containing a layer of crumble, raspberry filling, and the tart. It was perfectly sweet: not too much, not too little. In the end, I recommend this to everyone and I am eager to come back, although it is very far. I love the raspberry tart so much and thank you to the workers today. Sorry if there are grammar or spelling mistakes. I could eat 100 more raspberry tarts because it wasnt too sweet, which is...
Read moreThis was my 3rd visit to this store. I ordered a large iced latte along with 3 other drinks, a dessert, and a couple bags of coffee to take home. The coffee and drinks tasted good. The service the last two times has been rough though. Today my drink was packed to the top with ice and my large latte was more like a small. After a couple sips on the straw it was gone. I asked the cashier if it was normal to have this much ice packed in a large cup. She replied with I think so. I said ok, thats a lot of ice, next time I'll have to order it with little ice. As I turned my back and walked away my wife and my dad seen her roll her eyes at me. During the visit before today a different person leaned over the counter as my wife was supposed to enter a tip while paying with a credit card. My wife and I both thought she was trying to pressure my wife to tip or tip heavy by doing this. Evidently my wife didn't tip enough because the worker seemed to act annoyed after this.
We stop at small and large coffee shops 4 or 5 times a week in the Midwest. We never get treated this way and we never get an iced coffee packed that full of ice. Its unfortunate the staff at this location is this immature and chooses to treat...
Read moreA yearly experience that we make just so we can get truffles from Monroe at "Chocolate Temptation". They have many tables and yiu can sit to enjoy different coffees. I don't drink coffee but they have a large board with lots of choices. There are some teas in the back and some other small items but I didn't shop those this year so I don't know what all they offered. The many flavors of truffles were the objective for our trip this time. The one sales lady wrote out what truffle flavors I picked in my gift boxes. You can get a box of 12 large truffles for $43. You can buy a small box of 4 truffles for $14 and there was something in between too. There are smaller truffles in a big variety of flavors as well. These can be boxed up for you also. You can pick your own combination of truffles. All the same flavor or any variety you choose. We always visit Chocolate Temptations when we go to Monroe. Never disappointed. 5*...
