The reason for this low rating was manufactured in full by the exit process of this apartment by two people ....DANA(unsure of last name ) who was one of the on site employees I communicated with during the exit process and MATTHEW OBERKOFLER who was the off site property manager.
I was there in excess of 4 years and was late (1) time with my rent payment due to simply being forgetful (totally my fault).
I paid in excess of $1,000 for a tiny 1 bedroom apartment with 2 small dogs , but, i paid it because the location was good and it was quiet and had a dog park.
I provided the proper notice about leaving the property and unfortunately during my exit month I had 2 surgeries (hernia & shoulder replacement) so this slowed down my ability to get things out as quickly as I would have liked. I communicated with Dana that the only thing I had remaining in the apartment was a love seat that I wasnāt taking with me and I asked for some extra time, which , she said was fine. I was communicating with a girl from Verona to give the piece of furniture away because she has MS: I was trying my best to get this furniture in the hands of someone who really needed it.
The previous Friday I communicated clearly what I was doing and returned the key as needed and told her I would coordinate with the girl and be in touch with her and I was...On Monday the girl and I could finally get our schedules lined up and when I went to the apartment they had already thrown the love seat in the dumpster so DANA very coldly said āyou will have to fish it out of the dumpster for yourself...we gave you plenty of timeā. Obviously I was furious and stated as much and communicated with MATTHEW OBERKOFLER (mentioned above ) and he took care of this issue.
The next issue was the return of my security deposit. What was my own fault was the fact that over 4 years there were some dog odors due to the fact that I worked long hours and did not always have them in a crate and pads only work to some degree. The apartment was extremely broom clean other than 1 tiny hallway from the dogs.
Instead of receiving at least 1/2 of my security deposit back MATTHEW OBERKOFLER said I owed $121 for damages. Apparently carpeting at apartments is given a life of 5 years and if you have been there less than 5 years it is supposed to be in good enough shape that the next person can move right in after a quick cleaning thatās fairly comical; Someone is going to pay in excess of $1000 per month for 5 year old used carpet ???
I was charged 3 hours labor for applying sealant to the entire apartment allegedly. I was charged $137 for 3 blinds being cracked and a bathroom faucet that had been broken for months and just never bothered to bother them with because I knew I was moving out. I was not interested in bothering them with such small, insignificant items when I was moving out shortly. I was told by DANA all that would simply be considered normal āwear and tear...no big dealā My dogs had ruined a few vertical blinds before from jumping at the window and barking and I offered to pay for them being replaced and was told ...āNo problem ...itās normal wear and tearā
I called Matt and voiced my complaint about the $137 worth of charges that would have been replaced at no charge if I would have called months before when they actually happened . I told him I would be willing to simply have it ābreak evenā at $0 owed to him by him wiping away the $137 in charges and I would not expect him to pay me the $16 I would be owed ...just call it even for the damaged living room blind ( i would venture to guess they used super glue and fixed the almost invisible crack), the vertical blinds and a small piece of one faucet handle !!!!
With a credit score well over 700 I am not in the business of walking away from charges.
After negotiating with MATTHEW OBERKOFLER he said .....āI will wipe out the $90 for the blinds so you would simply owe $31 for the broken faucet in the bathroomā
The next day he called back and said ...we arenāt giving you back the $90....you owe the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI lived at Belmont for three years. Each year the quality and safety of the complex got significantly worse. Management refuses to address major safety issues. For starters, my apartment had a flooding issue that required carpet and drywall replacement to mitigate the mold and musty odor. However, dispute telling me that they resolved the source of the problem, the flooding persisted. When I complained again to management about the unresolved issue, they simply gave me a dehumidifier. I requested to be moved to a different apartment and they rejected my request, even though there were multiple units available. Instead of fixing the issue or moving me to a new unit, I was told by the property manager that I could move out if I was unhappy. The issues that I encountered were solely the fault of management; the maintenance team was always helpful and professional. The final straw for me was the recent increase in crime. Over the past year there have been numerous car break-ins; Belmont at least notified tenants of these incidents. However, police were called at least once a month to address noise complaints and other domestic incidents. Belmont was made aware of these incidents, but had not response. Overall, the quality of this complex has eroded significantly over the past few years. I do not recommend living here. There are much better and safer options...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been living with Monroeville Apartments since 2021, and it has never been anything but a pleasant experience!
Staff: Those working in the office are available and happy to serve their community! I appreciate that they have longer office hours, so I can get ahold of someone pretty quickly. The maintenance team is TOP NOTCH. Very professional, answers requests promptly, and they even take the time to explain what/how/why they fixed whatever needed fixed. I especially love that they've taken the time to meet my dog so she isn't so nervous when they come into the apartment to meet a maintenance request. Even when I'm walking my pup around outside, they are happy to let her greet them!
Amenities: The community center is brimming with activities! A full gym with free weights, two racquetball courts, a HUGE pool, business center, AND a party room fully equipped to host fairly large groups. Outside the center, there's a good-sized dog park, which my pup LOVES, and the neighborhood itself is beautifully maintained.
Price: considering everything I'm getting at this apartment: good sized room, updated kitchen, private laundry room, patio, and a fireplace(only in some apts), the monthly rent is very fair, it is absolutely worth it!
I have recommended this complex to several friends, I am very happy with my decision...
